I tried and tried and tried, but can't figure it out: What determines the order in which the maps from which you can choose a new game appear?
I checked my folder, it can't be alphabetical, it can't be size, and it can't be "date Last changed". That's all that my windows explorer offers me.
I tried changing their names (e.g. from "urgaia.map" to "1_urgaia.map" or "urgaia_X.map"), but haven't had much success.
I basically just wanted the scenarios to be under their respective maps (urgaia, eye, cradle (homemade one), etc.), and the Illwinter ones first, or whatever.
Thanks in advance

The order they are in the folder? Probably not, but I always assumed so.

Look, I know nothing about computers, but I figured the graphical representation of their "order" I can see in a windows environment is artificial anyhow; windows offers me "ordered by date", "by size", "by type", "by name".
I **CAN** change their order *sometimes* by renaming them, but it gives totally unexpected and (for me) unsystemizable results.

Doesn't matter, I tested and it wasn't that way. I though it might be the order the .map files are at the moment of starting Dom2, normally alphabetically by the name of .map, changing if the folder sorting was changed.

I think, just having a look at it, it's alphabetically by _filename_, not by the name of the map itself. Thus "The Desert Eye", which has the filename eye.map, will be ordered under E. However, despite ordering by filename alphabetically, the game displays by map name. The title of the map displayed in the game is just in the .map file:
-- Title and image file
#dom2title The Desert Eye
#imagefile eye.tga
