Playing along happy as a clam....then had a problem with my system locking up. No prob...reboot. Now Dom2 won't start up. Just goes through the initilization where the screen res changes and then dumps out to desktop with "Failed to create temp directory properly (already existed)"
I tried:
~ rebooting
~ uninstalling and reinstalling
~ searched the forums and tried the fix of replacing the sdl.dll
no luck. Can anyone offer any help or suggestions?
System:
Athalon XP 1700+
512 RAM
DirectX 9.0b
NVIDIA GeForce2 Ti (64Mb)
SB Live! Audio

It will list something like "c:\temp\dom16882", where the Last five digits might be something else. Delete this directory, and it should work again.

Wow! Thanks for such a fast replay. The stderr.txt file didn't list a specific file. Just the error message. But taking your cue, I just cleaned out my temp folder and now everything is good again.
Thanks a ton!

Nice to see your problem was solved, I have to remember that if I ever get a problem like that.
BTW, "Något gick fel" is not an error type but Swedish expression meaning "Something went wrong"... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I wonder what Swedish for "Nothing went wrong" is. I think it would be incredibly amusing for a box to pop up at random saying that Nothing went wrong, and then the game exits. For no reason!

But if there is an error-message, and noone understands it, does it make a sound? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Usually that sound is something to the effect of "Beep!", but you can change this if you want. Since when did people actually understand program error Messages anyway?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I dunno, but we do seem to have a new English word now:
nagot (vb): to fail suddenly and unexpectedly, e.g. I was nearly finished, then it nagotted on me !!

Swdish for "Nothing went wrong" = "Ingenting gick fel", or "Inget gick fel" (inget being a contraction of ingenting (nothing) that can be used in some places, just as något is a contraction of någonting (something)).
