We noobs in Aku's game have a problem with a player staling.
I was wondering if there is some generally accepted point at which you make them go AI?

I think 4 turns in a row is too many to miss (over 4 days) - you should be able to at least keep people informed in that time.

I guess if there are not rules of generally accepted behaviour then maybe there ought to be
All of these would be subject to override as a house rule in any given game
such as

1) Anyone staling 4 turns in a row or for 1 week whichever is less, without explanation will be set to AI.

2) Alliances must not be arranged prior to the game

3) Communication by any means between players is allowed.

4)(deleted as whimsical see Arryn's post)

5) In form everyone you intend to go AI at least 2 turns in advance so they may consider replaecemetns etc

These are issues I have come accross in the first few games I have played. Are there any more sensible rules?

Would it help to post something like this so everyone knows where they are at when they start?

as i said, staling 4 turns in a row is more than sufficient reason to put somone on AI, especially if no explanation was given.

Ok this is a specific instance covered in that thread I am more looking to see what the general feeling for future reference.

hm i would simplify the rules to turning someone who makes stale turns to ai :
1. if no reasons are given after 3 stale turns in a row : ----> set to ai
2. if you go to holiday : then you should try finding a sub for these 1-2 weeks .
should be not too hard

if you really find no sub which is very unlikely then what has to be done should be chosen from case to case .

3. if something bad happens ( hopefully not but it can like accident ) try to inform someone and then here a pause for 1-2 days until the player has time again should be the general rule .

if something really evil happens ( hopefully not but a small chance exists , norfleet would call this a gruesome accident http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) which Lasts longer then a few days a sub should tried to be found or turn the player to ai after you gave him best wishes for fast recovery from the evil thing that has happened .

in 99% of the cases only point 1 or 2 should happen point 3 was only to be complete ( hopefully this happens nobody in any game )

not only just staling 4 days in a row he did his turns for his other games but not ours...it is like he didn't want to play the game anymore but decided to NOT TELL US!
