Derek,

Got a question. No matter what stats a gladiator has, when he's fighting, his willpower is 40. What constitutes willpower? Is it a combination of strength and endurance, or some intangible stat we can't see? Just curious

It's basically set up like "hit points", it measures a warrior's desire to continue to fight. The game is designed and balanced on starting at 40 (originally it was going to be 30, but thought that might shorten battles too much).

I just find it strange that some fighters will go the distance with a tremendous amount of damage done to them, while others will get one lucky shot and collapse immediately, although they may have close to their 40 willpower points.

Each warrior has a hidden "endurance" rating that helps determine if warriors will be "wimps" or will get hurt or killed a little more easily than others (with random chance playing a small role too). I mainly use Willpower as an easy way to determine when a warrior gets defeated.
