Most of the games Ive played in have been an allied victory. If you mean having the game recognize an allied victory then I dont think thats possible except for AI allied victory.

I have some projects Ive tried to do in creating a map which forces allied play (www.dom2minions.com) and I know that Kristoffer is also working on one. There are also options for doing things with a MOD along those lines.

I think there is an interest and some great possibilities if someone were to create a combination map/mod together designed to create the AI alliance which can only be beat by an alliance of good players. It would be a nice alternative to Player-vs-Player games.

I think playing as a team (or "Pantheon") against another pantheon would be my ideal game (in theory). Playing the AI is well playing the AI even if other people are along side you - good for learning teamwork but still wanking.

I agree. I used to play a PBEM wargame that ran both individual and team games, and the team games were far more interesting. Focus switches from cutthroat diplomacy to detailed cooperation. Interesting to note that some of the best individual players weren't good in a team, as they just couldn't divorce themselves from the selfish dynamic of the individual game.

*BUMP*
This is a great idea and should be easy to mod...
Just add a "Team" or "Pantheon" column when choosing nations for a game, in it you can insert a value between 1 and 9 (for easy storing) and it will be added into your pretender information or some other static information on the server, when a certain player completely dies (with the message) the game will check the "Pantheon" values of all the players, if they are all the same value (as in, they are all allied) they all get the victory message and win.

Is the victory message really that important? Why not just start up a game asking for teams. I bet plenty of people would try it.

yes, tha could be ... but my idea was to set a game with allied victory based on control of vicotry points but:

1. no alliance set in the beginning
2. no score graphs avaible

so, it could be hard to understand if a team is winning ...

When there is nobody left who isn't a teammate then your team wins.

Use --scoredump when the game is started and the host will get a score file (browser viewable) every time the host processes. If a master password is used then the host can also go into the game to check just to be sure
