Yup, a copy of Dominions 2. It came today. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Installing now.

What should be the first thing I do after installing it?

Download the references and play a nation that you wern't able to in the Demo. R'lyeh is a favorite. (Who doesn't like squids?!)

Oh yeah. Patch to 2.12 first. You also might want to grab a few utilities. Find them at Arryn's site as well as at Illwinter.

AHHA he is ours now!

install, patch, play the non-demo nations, then download new maps and play them to death, then download mods and play them to death, then dice into multiplayer games until you are too well known for anyone to want to play you.

Then finally when you are done with all of that.. come over to the Site of Random for Bored Players www.dom2minions.com (http://www.dom2minions.com)

About utilities, do you have the links by chance? And can you tell me which ones would be most useful to me?

If you happen to be especially save conscience: Torvak's Dominions 2 savegame utility

For prettiness: Ben Sones Skin's (found at Illwinter)

For newer maps: Kingdom of Karan by Targa and a few others are very decent.

My Dominions II site (http://www.dominions-2.org/index.htm). Look around, and if you don't understand something, feel free to ask.

Make sure that you drink, eat and sleep once in a while. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Also, there is no known cure for this addiction so I guess you are stuck with us now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Did you know that the old BG game had a tip (you know the kind, "tip of the day") saying: "Remember what while your characters do not need to eat, you do! We don't want to lose any dedicated fans!"

Yeah, and there were several great remarks as well,
like by the Evil Dwarf (forgot his name) : there's nothing wrong with your head that I cannot cure with my axe http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Dungeon Keeper had that too. From midnight to the wee hoursn, every hour on the hour, you would get a message telling you stuff like, 'Don't Keepers need to sleep?'. They message was always the same one for each hour so it was almost like an alarm clock. I remember that I would hear a certain message and think, Holy Cow, it's 2 AM already???

I rather like the DKII Messages of "Your creature like the new carpeting" and "Your creatures ask that you install airconditioning" (or something similar) and the well known "The very rock yawns with anticipation of your next fascinating move".
I like games with homour, like Monkey Island (the best quest series ever!).
Books as well - The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy and the Discworld series.
