does fire or cold resistence protect ?
2.phönix pyre "death" fireball :
fire resistence protects ?
3.Geyser evo 1 , WF

is this damage or the hp of the entanglement which have to be destroyed ?
7.freezing mist evo3 WWWA
i think cold resistence should protect ?
8.acid bolt evo 3 WWF

I think that there are a lot of spells for which there is no resistance. Armor helps against Blade Wind, but a resistance? What would it be? There's no Earth Resistance. Frankly it had never even occurred to me to ask if there was a way to resist that spell.
But you have a good point when it comes to spells like Magma Bolts and Geyser that one could logically consider to be fire/heat damage. We know there's a resistance for fire, after all. So it's just a question of whether or not it works on those spells.

yeah because i am at the moment analyzing battle spells because i didn't pay attention too much so far but recognized now how good they are .
with the 12 above mentioned spells i am not sure if there is a resistence or not .
so far especially banefire looks extremely strong to me

I don't know, offhand, which spells have which resistances but usually, spells that are multi element are considered to be the first color listed for all purposes.

Geyser : Quite possibly no resistance, it definately shouldn't be cold, and I don't think fire - just the impact / turbulence of water causing damage.
Sulphur Haze : Definately does poison damage.
Vine Arrow : Does damage _and_ entangles, if it hits.
Acid spells : No resistance that I know of, but I might be surprised.
Gifts from Heaven : I think that's huge whopping impact damage, so no resistance, but if you have 150 armor protection... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Farstrike : Not sure if there's a ToHit resolution as per a melee attack, but it always has the possibility of hitting an empty square altogether.

It gets a little confusing, because the Staffs of Elemental Mastery are described as "provides partial protection against the two elements used in its forging". Easy to figure for three of the elements (cold, fire, air), I'm guessing that the Earth/Air also gives partial poison protection.

I'm not sure fire should protect against these. After all, the magma bolt isn't just fire, it's a mass of molten rock/metal hitting at high velocity. Similarly, the geyser is quantity of water hitting the target. Given the very low damage I would hope that fire resistance didn't protect against it.

hm especially the acid rain doesn't look too bad http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
the "constant" 12 ap damage are a minor drawback but area of effect 4+ is goood and no resistence probably even better http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
would be nice if e.g. zen could give definite answers because he has surely already tested it for his new Quick References http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

IIRC A/E Staves of Elemental Mastery provided increased protection. Either that or Robe of Calius the Druid, which also says it protects against all the elements, gave prot. bonus in Dom:PPP.

Earth/Air -staff gives partial lightning protection and natural armor value of 15. (like, um, stoneskin spell, iirc)

2.phönix pyre "death" fireball :
fire resistence protects ?
Phoenix Pyre is concussion damage, ie physical/generic damage.

Does poison damage and can set troops on fire.
Poison immunity protects against poison, but not against fire.
I noticed that fire immunity gave protection from poison and fire effects.

Sorry for exhuming an old thread...
Has anyone conducted some conclusive experiments yet to answer these questions?
I am particularly interested whether MagmaBolts would be suitable to dispose a casting of AngelicHost far behind my lines, and those angels have 50% fire protections...

I can confirm that magma bolts will damage fire immune troops.
