The fire damage from the holy pyre spell the Flambeau allows you to cast will not damage them. The armour piercing X3 damage from the sword itself works perfectly.

So the holy pyre spell mari starts with is useless against devils?
That's silly, IMHO. Arguably a bug.
If the starting site zaps devils, (which it does except under the blood theme) the starting spell (omitted in favor of bind harlequin, /threads/images/Graemlins/icon02.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif under said blood theme)ought to as well.
Rabe, who is totally disinterested... what with playing Marignon next to Abysia in Glacier MP. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif /threads/images/Graemlins/crazy.gif

The marignon holy site doesn't work all that well vs. devils either. It's fire damage too. Of course, it will still damage ice devils, and other demons that have no fire resistance. In practice this rarely matters since few demons are weak enough to be killed by the site, but sometimes they will get an affliction.

As I said in an earlier thread on this same topic, the only thing wrong with this spell is its name. The spell's description very clearly states its effects (fire), which is not holy and thus not effective versus devils.
It would be a trivial thing for the devs to change the spell's name and thus end, once and for all, the arguments regarding this spell and its use against devils. It was first reported quite a while ago, and several patches have come and gone and we've not seen any inclination on the part of IW to do anything about this misleadingly-named spell.
