View Full Version : Anybody seen odd_enuf? And when to AI player...

It looks like odd_enuf has gone stale for two turns in Pandemonium2 - has anyone seen him playing in any other games? odd_enuf, are you out there? He's not given us any notice of his departure, so I'm a little sure of how much rope to give here.
Is there a convention for how many turns a player should be allowed to stale before being forcibly converted to AI? We're on mosehansen (if that makes a difference), and if I do convert him to AI, can we convert him back if he shows up later? If that's the case than 2 turns stale before converting to AI seems eminently reasonable to me. I guess maybe I'd go with 3 if there's no turning back.
Also, is there any way to sub in a new player position for that, without giving away the master password? If so, and anyone's interested, let me know. odd_enuf seems to be in a good position - on turn 15, he's in 2d place by province count, and AFAIK, he's not entangled in any of the early conflicts that have swept across this particular game.
Here's the game thread:

I haven't been paying close attention, but on Belle Air he's either been staling or taking a lot longer than usual to get his Last couple turns in.

I would say staling two turns in a row w/out any explanation is grounds to turn someone over to AI. Staling 3 turns in a row and there shouldn't even be any second thoughts.
and, no, once set to AI it is impossible to change back after the turn hosts.
i'd say if he's about to do a third stale, whomever owns the game should go in a bit before hosting and set him to AI.
for Belle_air that's me, so pls inform me if he's about to do a third stale.
thanks

In Low magic game, he has significantly slowed down his pace of play. We were doing 2 turns per day for quite a while, but no longer. I thought it had to do with the fact that, according to my scouts, two players are killing him in a 2 on 1 and I am pretty sure he will not survive.
I have not been watching very closely, but he sure may have staled some turns.

I'm really not sure if/how many turns he's been staling. There's no way to check is there? I just attacked him and he doesn't have a whole lot of troops and hasn't been terribly proactive in moving them around in the war anyway, so it's hard to tell if he took his turn or not.

So, I'd like to find some disinterested party to convert odd_enuf's position in our Pandemonium2 game over to AI. Preferably, I'd like to see this done this afternoon or evening, PDT (GMT - 7). Let me know in this thread, or in a PM and I can PM you the game's master pword.

Bump!
I'd really like to find someone to convert odd_enuf to AI for us tonight, if at all possible. Shouldn't take but a minute, and I'll be happy to return the favor.

I can do this as I have no interests in this game.

It is done. Vanheim is now AI controlled.

I am nearly positive that Odd_Enuf has staled at least 2 turns in a row in Low Magic Game 3, unfortunately he is the owner of this game so only he can turn himself AI.
I do wonder what has happened to him though, I hope he is ok.

As far as Low Magic Game 3, he is basically dead anyway. With both you and C'tis killing him, he will not live much longer whether or not he comes back or his race goes AI. My scout has even reported back to me that the Caelum capitol now flies a yellow banner.

if need be you could ask esben to give the game another owner. I believe that's easily w/in his power. He also has access to the master password, of course.
and whenever he has been determined to have definitely staled multiple turns in a row in belle_air I'll set him to AI there.

He's not located in Florida, is he?

He's about to stale another turn in Belle Air, and considering that he's almost been annihilated by the mighty Atlantis, I guess you might as well switch him to AI to speed up the game and so that his 3 Arch Devils can try to do something.

odd_enuff is connected to belle_air right now. At least he is ok.

no that was me checking out his empire. gems haven't been collected for 4 turns, so that's 3 stales in a row.

Then AI him... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I suspect this game is close to being over anyway...And not with me winning. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

well, I was considering using his scraps to mount a spirited guerrilla campaign in defense of the motherland; or at least to die w/ honor intact.
no one benefits from fighting a comatose opponent.

Archaeolept,
Not a bad idea. Abysia was a *former* superpower in the game, and if the position goes AI, the game is going to end all the quicker basedupon current trends under the victory conditions that were set.

yeah he's almost wiped out too, but has some potent forces yet. He'd be ideal for a short scrap fight, and then I'd AI him after a while. He certainly hasn't lifted a finger to defend himself for ages.

So, uh, what's going on with Abysia in Belle Air? His capitol is about to fall. You should see the army I'm bringing against it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

heh, i hadn't received much response about my suggestion, but i'll take yossar's comment as a challenge http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Oh, I just figured everyone was fine with your suggestion. I can't see anyone complaining. Even though you've seen my empire and might have a fairly decent idea of what I can bring, there's no way you can stop it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

OK Yossar, we all know you are powerful and all mighty, but now you are going to brag about it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Just kidding of course!

Talking about beating down an army that's staled the Last 3 or 4 turns hardly counts as bragging. And anyway, I'm still fairly worried about Ermor. He controls 2 foreign capitols, as do I, and I think it's about to get really interesting regarding what happens with those. At least until I'm able to bring out my wish-buffed Ice Devil http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yes, very interesting. As you well know, us poor souls in the west (me, Ulm and Vanheim), can only sit back and watch because there is not enough capitals for us in the west to even gain a victory without having to go through you or Ermor, a tough task indeed.
Or, we can fight amongst ourselves! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
