View Full Version : [feature request] goto # province

Most people use the province numbers for communication of intel. Yet on big maps it is really painful to try and find a specific province by number.

It would be really nice to have a command: cntl-g or something that opens up a dialog box and takes a number. And then centers the map and selects that province for you.

Of course, it'd also be nice if you could turn province numbers on and off on the map display. Actually, if the province numbers could be displayed, it wouldn't be that bad even without a 'goto' command, I think.

...I hate to communcate those numbers (it disturbs roleplay) and I really hate that the client forgets the names of provinces once you knew them if they become unscouted again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif It not like the those names ever change within an ongoing game!?!

Msew, press '#' and it should do what you want or at least almost. It lets you select a province by number.

Thats really nice to know! Though I'd still dare to request that the game recalls province names, as well as the Last scouting report:

I print huge spreadsheet for each game where I note province names and scout reports, but this is quite a real pain to do! It would be so convenient if the game would simply display the Last info seen for each province - after all, storing and processing data is what computers were invented for..

Amen. It's rather irritating and illogical that, right after losing a big battle, your nation ... Forgets the name of that place they just lost a castle in. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

For that matter, if you've sent scouts through, presumably clerks and scribes and military staff back in the capital have kept the scout reports and jotted information down on their campaign maps. Heh. They know whether someplace is mountains or plains or forest or swamp without scouting, but they can't remember the names?

The clerks and scribes and military staff should do this, but apparently they are too busy, so it's the ominpotent pretenders task to do the paperwork all by himself... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif ...how does it feel to be a god?

Man, is IW awesome, or what! Think of a feature, and POW, it's already there! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

...or maybe the documentation isnt obtrusive enough!

(Yeah, I am stuck with a bad mocking attitude today, but despite what I have written I am grateful to Illwinter for Dom2 deep down in my heart... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Yeah - half full/half empty - it's all in how you look at it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

But while we're on the subject of wished for and possible undocumented features, being a massive clamhorder, I'd love to have a shift-Y command to complement the blood hunters shift-Z command.

shift-Y would dump all astral gems into the lab, or possibly just all gems. I spend a ridiculous amount of time collecting astral gems out of my clams, and it sure would be nice to have the equivalent of the shift-Z command. I don't suppose it's possible that this feature already exists, and I just don't know about it?

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif Why dont you go to the Lab and press the "pool" button there? I always wondered why shift-Z is there at all! Does it work differently to pooling?

There's no keystroke that from the main map collects astrals into the lab, AFAIK, but you can always go into the lab and pool all astrals with a click. It'll also strip astrals that you'd rather be retained for battle if the commander's in a lab, but *shrug* no interface is perfect.

Ah, that's what I needed. I haven't been in that part of the interface since demo days - I'd forgotten it existed!

Thanks!

When was the next Dom2-User-Meeting scheduled? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yes, it only takes blood slaves off of the commanders you have selected currently. This allows you to only remove blood slaves from non-sacrificing priests when playing Mictlan.
