I cast Manifistation and my Dark angel attacked a leader that had 4 Bane Lords as bodyguards. At least, I assume they were bodyguards, or why else would they be in the battle? I checked their stats, and there was no Leadership ability present.

I thought that Bane Lords were only leaders. Can you make leaders (such as Bane Lords) guard other commanders or are there Bane Lords that are units and not commanders?

Wights have a similar image to banes and bane lords. You can also summon non-commander banes with a death mage at one of the special sites.

I'm pretty sure it said Bane and not Wight. So, it must have been the site Banes. I didn't know they existed. Thanks.

Hold on, does the site summon non-commander banes, or bane lords? Big difference there, about two size categories of big, if I'm not mistaken(Or are bane lords only size 3?).
If the bodyguards were, indeed, bane lords, I can only assume your opponent enslaved their minds. By no means impossible, but still no small feat, particularly if they were carrying antimagic gear.
I'd watch out for chain-enslaving communions, if I were you.

the site gives banes. you can also summon them (conj. 3 2D 8gems).

most likely, he was guarded by banes.

Bowl of the Lost produces non-commander Banes. Not Bane Lords. At a quick glance they look a lot like Bane Lords. Of course, Enslave Mind might have netted some enemy bane lords. Bane lords are Size 3, banes are Size 2.
