I just downloaded the demo yesterday, and from the hours I've already spent today playing it (I guess being sick and missing school can be a good thing sometimes http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ) it looks like my kind of game. Was recommended to me in the SEIV forum. I was wondering what is available in the full Version that the demo is missing. A list of the major restrictions would be greatly appreciated. I sure hope there isn't a turn limit.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Thanks a lot!

The demo only allows you to play a few of the nations, restricts magic research to level 4, and has a 40 turn time limit.

I believe there are also restrictions to modding in the demo.

Aww, da*n it! I just ran up against the 40 turn time limit http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif . That really sucks! And I was just about to finish off the Ulm too....oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy the game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Turn limits on demos....*grumbles*

Hah! We managed to snag you! Now go over to the SEIV forum and pull more defectors over here!

Hope to see you in an MP game soon!

Trust me, you'd see me in a MP game, except I likely won't get the game until the end of December/early January http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Lets hope I can wait...

PS: I'm not a defector!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif I just....just...just take a break now and then. Yes, yes that's it. Honestly!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'm downloading the demo now. Another 6 hours of downloading left on my slow dialup connection... I'm just going to try the demo, and I'm certainly not defecting! I will always be loyal to Space Empires! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

One nice feature of the full game is that you will be able to continue your demo games.

When I started, I always forgot to write down my god designs--the game overwrites older designs--the latest design for any nation is the game's default for that nation. So if you take a Pythian Oracle, then play another game with Pythia and, say, a Virtue, your Pythian Oracle stats will be overwritten (the Oracle is still good for your original game, but every Pythian start thereafter, even AI positions, will use the Virtue, until you replace that with a new design).

The AI doesn't use your designs.

PS: Defecting is not a bad thing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif .

The challenge is to beat the game in that 40 turn limit. I suggest the aran map, 9 starting provinces and default jotunheim vs 6 difficult AIs(no water nations).

Just as long as you understand that everyone will go back to SE5 once it comes out, me included. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hey, if you bought the game (Dom II and the future III) that's what matters most =P
After all, if Illwinter's games get sold, its only Illwinter's reputation improving, wether you actually play the game or not =P

Remember that cross-overs are happening both directions. Just so you understand that I will be abandoning SE as soon as Dom3 is released (I should remember to compare the expected release dates on those two). Well not abandoning but shifting attention for a year or so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yep, but I think SEV is going to come out before Dom3. The ETA for SEV is, I think, Summer of '05. As far as I know, Dom3 isn't going to come out before them. Or am I wrong??

OK SEV in Summer of 2005
and DOM3 in late 2005

That might work out well

Personally, I'm probably going to play Rome: Total War in January-February, so it's looks like my whole gaming year for 2005 is all mapped out.
