What is the area in dominions III that should get the most overhaul & enhancements?

I think the thing that needs the biggest change is how terrian and battles interact. I realize there are many thing that could not be implemented due to the nature of dominion's hands-off system (which I think is great), but there is still a lot of room for improvment.

so you can vote for "tac engine new rules of engagements" then

modding and game rules externalization gets my vote! No doubt, but the other voting options are nice too though, I want them too! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I really dont know what to vote for, since I would greatly wish for something "new" as opposed to "more", but am unsure if "new rule" fits that bill. I would like to see full alliances (so that two allied armies can fight together on the same side etc.), but is that a "rule"?

yes, a major feature/rule indeed this alliance system... even if ones can say it doesnt fit the dominions theme, but in practice players allies themselves quite often.

Yes, but you should always have the option to break a treaty anytime you feel like it - and without any delay so you can strike when its most suitable. Sadly, most games force you to break an alliance before you can invade, which takes most of the fun of backstabbing away

I dont recall that... I'm playing alpha centauri for example, and you betray when you want. For real ou continuous time, like Paradox serie (Hoi2 being the latest), the problem is void too.

Arrgh, please remove my vote from "User interface improvement" and shift it towards "utils, tools and reporting options for less micromanaging! I just spent more than 4 hours for a single turn (on Karan) Arrgh!

I think that first and Last option should count together... They imply mostly the same.

I'd like to see the stats of most items, troops and pretenders revisited to increase the proportion of that incredible diversity that actually gets used in competitive play.

yes they can be seen as rather near from each other. But the devs will understand anyway.

we should get at least 100 votes to have the right idea of what is people 'main problem' with dom2, and what they expect from the 3.

I havent voted yet, because I think I would prefer a more differentiated poll -- no offense, this is meant as constructive criticism. I like the categories, Pocus, but think they could be differentiated a wee bit more and I would prefer a poll which had 3 questions, each with the same categories, but had
- Question 1 = first choice of highest priority
- Question 2 = second choice of secondary priority
- Question 3 = third choice of tertiary priority

I dont want to be so snotty to just go ahead and do a poll like that since you have taken the trouble and time to do this one, which is a fine thing. Dunno, what do you think?

yup why not, do it Tinkthank, I dont see any problems with that. And merge interface improvements with 'more reporting options, tools and utils' while you are at it.
Then once it is done, we can say this poll is deprecated, and head people toward the new one.

As I said, if there is not at the very least one hundred persons responding, then it wont be useful for Illwinter.

Keep it synthetic too, no point in doing yet another large wishlist http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The system is really powerful and what I have looking for a lot of time. But as I would like to use it to portrait the battle in my Roleplaying campaign (or whatever set-up) I'd like to have a more easier way to modify (create/edit) the nation and the rules.

Though one thing too that need a great improvement is the siege engine. They are no siege machine, ladder to climb on the wall... The castle are a simple circular wall with tower that fire. Nothing inside too, Fortified cities should have some building inside I think. Of course that will be a bit difficult with the actual battle engine...

Don't know what battles replays you are watching, but I have seen buildings in fortified cities ...

There are no siege engines shown, but you should read the descriptions of Ulm's Siege Engineer and Arcoscephale Golden Era's Engineer (IIRC). They seem to indicate that siege engines are used, but are not shown as units.
