Hi,
I convinced myself that the infamous following feature:
"if you have a retreat order when being assassinated, you will still execute this order, even if it means that you are killed instantly, as you are not allowed to retreat in assassination attempt"
was modified a long time ago. I decided though to test it in the latest Version, as I have a crone pretender moving with a retreat order in a pbem.
...
and it is not corrected. An oversight I hope, as I dont think it must ask for much time to make the test in the code http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Does this apply to non-scripted retreating as well? I had a Mystic retreat from an assasination he was winning (?) today, using 2.15, vs the plain ol' dude with poison daggers. Mystic (FAWSS) was not scripted, cast BodyEtherial, Quickness, and MindBurn, then retreated to oblivion after taking no damage. The assassin was at melee range and only 2-3 hp left after Burn.
Probably he has gone into hiding underground because he knows how I 'retrain' those who flee while representing my awesome presence on the field of combat. Coward. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Injured.gif

I've seen this many times. Its a huge pain for human pretenders.

AFAIK the issue never was addressed, so any kind of retreat, scripted or not, during an assassination results in death.
It's a real pita for assassins as well as targets http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I think that retreat should just work as usual during assassination:
However, for an assassination, all troops should just be placed on switched sides (i.e. victim on the left). So if the victim wants to retreat, he can do so, but he must cross the whole battlefield in order to escape into safety...
If the assassin is too stupid to kill the poor victim over the entire distance, well, his own fault!
(Hmm, might still have a problem with fliers and mounted commanders, though...)

Also, they are probably working on it now (or so I gather from that "Crap!" response =P).

Note that an Oceanic siren's attempt to Lure counts as an underwater assassination attempt if the enemy commander has water-breathing, and a scripted retreat is still "allowed". I lost 2 sirens in one turn this way.

That's a good idea IMO. For fliers, it makes sense they should be able to flee an assassin after one turn (meaning assassin should go first in that case), unless the assassin can fly too...
