View Full Version : Which Spells do you "LIKE" to cast?

This is my first new forum, I searched for this but couldn't find it.
I was wondering what spells are your favorites, and by this I mean spells you'de like to see cast more often. Like ritual of rebirth (because mummies are cool), and Kithaironic Lion (because Gigantic Lions are cool). As opposed to which spells are the best like wrathful skies (ho-hum).
Some spells I like are:
Ritual of Rebirth
Angelic Host
Manifestation
Tartarian Gate
Dust to Dust
Baleful Star
Transformation
Mind Hunt
Strands of Arcane Power
The domes that shoot back!
Vengenance of the Dead
Gift of Reason
Iron Dragon
I like these spells because they add a lot of flavor to the game (regardless of how "balanced" they are). Maybe the developers will find this information useful.

My favorite inefficient spell to cast is Strands of Astral Power especially on large maps. It really can reduce the micromanagement of site searching.
The reason it is so inefficient to cast is that you need to have high levels in almost all paths to make it worth while and that is very expensive to setup.
But the reduction in micromanagement is worth it, IMO.

I like Strands, because it grips your interest whenever it finds a site or kill a mage!

I like almost all spells, but especially the creative ones you won't find in any other game. I even like Wrathful Skies, but agree it is too easy to cast.
I think maybe some more limitations along with more power would help. For instance, if all the spells requiring Forest really required a forest province, and then those were more powerful, so they're powerful spells, but only usable in the woods. Then have more spells affected by details like the season, local dominion, local dominion scales, terrain, unrest level, etc.
Some ones I particularly like, or would like to see get more use:
Ritual of Rebirth
Tartarian Gate (would be nice if Fir'Bolg and more other summons also had variety)
Transformation
Strands of Arcane Power
Vengenance of the Dead
Gift of Reason
Power and Protection of the Unholy Sepulchre
Cross Breeding
The Looming Hell
Dome of Corruption
Astral Corruption
Bind Succubus
Rain of Toads
Hell Power
Stygian Paths
Confusion
Lichcraft
Carrion Reanimation
Ghost Ship Armada
Dome of Flaming Death
Fate of Oedipus
Strands of Arcane Power
Gifts From Heaven
Fire ball
Darkness & Utterdark
Polymorph
Iron Pigs
Sea of Ice
Wild Hunt
Awaken Tarrasque
Legion of Wights
Call the Eater of the Dead
Manifestation
Harvester of Sorrows
Ether Gate
Shark Attack
Guardians of the Deep
Raven Feast
Spirits of the Woods
Summon Lammashtas
Summon Animals
Summon Wyvern

These are great lists. I will just mention "blight", since no one else has yet. I like that one.
I also like Claymen, since I can take them into the water early on.
I'd like to see lower-level and more eclectic spells get cast more often, but even though I would "like" to cast them, I often do not, because I feel they are not competetive for their gem cost.
Once I reach that research level, I find myself casting the same old stuff over and over again, because it is "worth it" (Ghost Riders, Send Horror, Wrathful Skies, etc.).

I like Blade Wind. It's really funny to see a blind E9 cyclops casting it... well, not if you're assigned to bodyguard duty, I suppose.
As far as summons go, I like the vampire summons, and any summon that nets you a leader who can summon more allies. Although, paying upkeep for wolves and so forth is a bit crazy=)
Reascendance is ungodly cool, thematically (excuse the pun). But unfortunately, it doesn't really live up to it's potential... the angel is as survivable as a 90-year-old little grandmother with osteoporosis compared to the similarly priced ice- and arch- devils. I think FA's should be a little more like Christopher Walken in "The Prophecy." Maybe Illwinter can get him to voice-act Fallen Angels in Dominions 3... =)

I like Twiceborn for Death mages. It is pretty cool, thematic and another application of positive dominon. I do not think that it is really worth its cost.
What bugs me more is that the wight mages are always the same regardless of the original kind, which is not in accordance to so many other detailed features of Dom2...

That's true, but that brings up the difficulty of identifying types... However, I think simple size/flying identifier could be used, similar to the one used in Twiceborn.

When I play C'tis (which has been a lot recently), I love to cast Leprosy. It's just so much fun when there's a big army of national troops coming my way.

Twiceborn is actually quite nice.
I remember several times where it saved my precious mages.
Most importantly, my mage pretender accidentaly caught a disease from a hidden site so I had to let him die with twiceborn on to avoid actualy death. Obviously, a lot of death casters are immune to disease, but its still a nice application for that spell.

PvK already mentioned it, but I love the spell "Wild Hunt", though I've never cast it in MP for fear of pissing everybody off enough that they unite to destroy me.
