I know what the site does and I am happy with it game-wise, but I cannot make anything of its very name! What does it mean? Why is it naturally unique? Why does it spread disease and unrest?

For most sites their names give you some idea what they look like and what happens there in a fantasy world, but I cannot imagine anything sensible about this one! Is it there because the godly-map-drawer of the world ran out of ink while drawing/creating the world, and therefore the world ends at this unholy spot (disease, etc.)?

I am not interested in answers from a gamers viewpoint! I want a thematic answers and pointer to other settings where this occurs (google "inkpot end" yield only dom2-related hits!).

I thought it was just an expression. Inkpot meaning black or very dark. A way of saying "dark end", which fits disease.

Maybe it's some kinda euphemism for festering buboes?

Err... I go now?

Hm. This is one of the rare cases where not even dict.leo.org gives me an idea on how to translate it. Or give an explanation other than what Oversway already said...

The dark fens somewhere beyond the last village on the road. It is a place where the day has never dawned. It is moist and smells of putrecense and disease. Swollen corpses of lepers and staked wizards can be found under clouds of buzzing insects.

Or perhaps it is just something scribbled on a road sign by an old hobo.

Good description! That's about what I had thought it meant. A place name of some dark swampy place that seems to be responsible for deadly diseases. Creepily vague.

Hmm, I guess it is not that I am entirely lacking imagination, but I thought that I was just missing something because of not being a native speaker...

So "end" is merely like in "Land's end" and "inkpot" can stand for anything dark, inklike. Ok.

Hmm, a pool with a dark liquid resembling ink, that never occured to me, although I think that I have seen such places...

Like people used to think the world was flat and drifted on an endless ocean (that's what the Greeks thought before the Middle Agers made it have fixed ends), perhaps here it is a flat world floating on a sea of unholy ink.

Or perhaps it is a metaphor for Hell or the abyss - both dark, endless places of suffering.

...and here I had Inkpot End pictured as a some sort of an area with tar pits. And dumped in them rotting carcasses spreading diseases. All "rather nice" and ordinary.

...that site will never be the same for me...
