Hi,
Game comes with about half a dozen downloadable maps. Are there any more?
Links to any recommended ones please. Preferably looking for ones with 100-200 provinces, mostly land based.
Thanks
Andy Watkins

Hello,
Illwinter's site (http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom2/maps.html) , Arryn's site (http://www.dominions-2.org/index.htm) and Gandalf's site (http://www.dom2minions.com/) for random maps offer all the maps available for Dominions 2.
I wouldn't be able to make any specific recommandation though. Cradle is a very beautiful map and an interesting one (about 210 provinces), and Karan is another nice map (150 provinces or so).

I can recommend io, miirunst, ringworld, and ESPECIALLY sea & sky as being exceptionally neat maps, particularly for being unique artistically and/or conceptually. This is not to detract from any other maps - many player-submitted maps have very interesting art or other features - but the ones I mentioned make me feel like I'm playing a completely different game.

In terms of chokepoints and creativity as well as overall balance and goodness, and it looks good as well, Karan is my favorite. I think the others tend to be too large. Make sure to get the corrected versions from Arryn's site.

My favorite one I've played so far was named "Cradle". It was pretty, easy to understand, and I thought the chokepoints and land/water distribution was cool.
Unfortunately I haven't found any that I like that are between 90 and 120 provinces. I want something like that for a 2-vs-2 game that I'm trying to get together (see the multiplayer discussions board). Ideally it would be wrap-around, so that everyone could reach both of their enemies...

I like the cradle, but it seems the populations are pretty high, which greatly benefits blood nations.
For large maps I love Faerun, but the anoroch is kind of a gem monty hall campaign, what with its low defenses and large number of wastes.

You might also want to download DomMap and WinDomMap (a Windows front end for DomMap). Theses will let you create your own random maps. They're both available at Arryn's site (http://www.dominions-2.org/index.htm)
