I just recently bought a copy of Dominions 2, and I'm looking to get into the multiplayer aspect, as the computer is not a terribly engaging opponent. Are there any newbie games starting soon, or would anyone be interested in setting one up?

I think there's a blitz game (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=343024&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1) (where everyone stays online the whole time, or at least until somone goes to sleep) every weekend. And this game (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=347377&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1) has not yet started. Otherwise, if you wait a week or two, there will be a new Recruitable Rebalance mod (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=333673&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) game starting.

Don't worry about newby / not newby; if you can beat the AIs on hard+ then you're definitely ready for multiplayer. Skill varies wildly, and luck and diplomacy are both very important in Doms II. So, unless you have a burning need to win everything you play, there's no reason to exclusively play against newbies.

Ah, thank you for pointing me in the right direction; kind of you to answer both of my first-day questions. The recruitable rebalance series looks particularly interesting. You seem to have put an awful lot of thought into improving the basic game.
