View Full Version : Looking for a player in 1vs1

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in a casual 1vs1 game: it should be a quick and interesting game, I think.
My level is probably something along the lines of "knowledgeable about the game, unable to put this knowledge to good use"; level only matters to have a roughly balanced setup however, though playing against someone better than you could be fun too. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Initiative with the settings is left to the other player... though of course, this sort of game would probably not use the Faerun map.

I´d like to play a 1vs1 now. If you have time for the rest of the evening I guess we could start and finish it today.

I'm afraid I am not available this evening (GMT); well, not for much longer at any rate.
For blitzes, I am usually much more likely to be available in the mornings and the afternoons (GMT again).

I regularly play PBEM 1x1 games on Clash of the Titans by Targa. I already have too many games going, but keep me in mind some other time, Alneyan.

I always keep you in mind Pasha... and in my sights too.
Jurri seems to be interested, though I did tell him he is no match for me. *Coughs* Looks like I caught a nasty cold.

I would be interested in playing you. That is, if you dont mind being utterly crushed by the all-powerful Spawn.
But Im not into blitzing, so we could just do a PBEM quickhost game with no time limit (it would be pretty pointless if someone stales in a 1v1).

That ought to be interesting Tauren, but beware! I am currently undefeated in 1vs1 games! Granted, I only played one such game (with my luck bringer, Deccan, who also gave me my first 1vs1 win in SEIV), but still.
Agreed for the hosting schedule (or lack thereof). Besides, if one of us is the host, any problem with the only player file getting lost would soon become apparent. There is a point in staling in a 1vs1 though: it makes it that much easier to win, or gives you an excuse for losing. You cannot blame the weather in Dominions after all, or a misworking mouse, or...

I would love to play a 1 vs. 1 sometime, with a blitz format.

Hey, if you want me to host, I will offer to do so.

Thats what MR rolls are for http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif (Curses, I would have won the game had my Ice Devil not been charmed!)
So, I guess we can start any time. I dont care about the settings, really.
Ill just suggest we dont announce nations, so we dont know which nation the other is playing until the game actually starts. That way we couldnt, like, design a god to counter a certain nation. (not that Im sophisticated enough for that anyways, but still...)

Ok, I just picked the settings for you.
Map: Reemergence of Urgaia
Independents: 5
Magic Sites: 55
Graphs: All info disabled (including pretenders)
HoF: 5
Research: Difficult
All three Zen Mods in effect.
Each of you email me your nation choice. If you both happen to pick the same one, that one will be eliminated and you will both have to pick again.
Of course, you can reject this free advice...

I would like a blitzgame too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
So far i lost all my 4 or 5 1vs1 games vs. tinktank http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.
Just contact me in icq, we are in the same timezone which is a great advantage for a blitzkräääg http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Sometimes it's fun in a 1x1 to have the players each choose a nation and design a pretender for the OTHER player.

But then you make a crapptastic pretender.... for your enemy.....
Caelum, 3 heat,3death,3chaos,3sloth,3drain,1dominion,longest to build castle no magic, archmage.

No no no! You must have honor and design the best darn pretender possible. That's part of the fun. To show off your ideas for the other player to sample. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Speaking of Blitzes - are there any games on Sundays anymore?

There are no longer as many players (or as firm of scheduling), but it is quite rare for there not to be some kind of blitz over the weekend.

Tauren: Fine with me. My only suggestion about the settings Panther offered is the strength of the independents: 5 seems to be fairly low. Otherwise, those settings are fine with me.
Boron: Be warned I am not too likely to really play many turns on any given day, though I can easily do six of them or so. If that's fine with you, well, you know where I am. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I choose 5 because of the size of the map. It would not do to have 30+ turns before being near your opponent. Indy 5 will make the map seem a bit smaller by allowing for much faster expansions on both sides.
Plus, I liked the symmetry of all the '5's! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

So be it then. Having so many odd numbers in the settings will be my excuse for losing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

What strange time these are.... a lawyer telling people to be honorable? How ironic http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Ok, give me a minute to decide on a nation and come up with a pretender...
