Does the Arrow Fend spell protect against the Flaming Arrows spell?

I thought it did, at least in the sense that less flaming arrows will hit you.

Yes.

To what degree does fire protection protect against flaming arrows? Just remove the fire effect, so they're like normal (but magical - e.g. against etherealness) arrows? Or does it make them completely harmless, so that casting Flame Arrows can backfire and make your arrows completely powerless if the enemy is (or becomes) fireproof?

Being Fireproof stops the Fire Damage of the Spell (this is the damage that gets through the Ethereality) but doesn't stop it from being pierceproof (the base damage of the arrow that isn't considered magical).

So in order to nullify flaming arrows you need both Fire Resistance and an Air Shield (or high prot).

Cool - thanks Zen. I didn't expect the calculation to be that sophisticated. What you write also implies that the fire damage isn't resisted by Arrow Fend - I sort of thought Arrow Fend was good against practically all ranged attacks which weren't area-of-effect.

Are you saying that Arrow Fend might keep the flaming arrow from hitting someone, but the fire might still hurt them?
