Attention:
I will run this competition with Zen's 3 mods:
-Pretender 2.2
-Magic Items 1.0
-Spells 1.8

So any blood thorn SC doesn't work at all, and a Hellsword/Wraithsword SC will be much harder to do!

Someone made a cool SC competition a few weeks ago, unfortunately i didn't find the thread again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Inspired by that i plan to do a SC competition too. It will be different from the old one though.

My idea :
There will be 2 different competitions.
Competition 1 is SC vs. SC, the modus is like with the Soccer WM:
First there will be several teams of 4 SCs, where each of them fights once against all other SCs of that group.
The best 2 of each group qualify, and then it is normal deathmatch until one is left.
Ideally we need 16 SCs for that.

Competition 2 will be for the "best" overall SC.
Every SC has to fight 15 rounds vs. common enemies and will score Points if he wins.
5 rounds will be vs. troops, 5 rounds vs. other SCs and 5 rounds with Mages with 20 mechanical men as Chaff.
For wins the SC scores points.
The "best" overall SC will be the SC who scores most points.

All SCs have to fight vs. the same enemies, it will be something like this :
Round 1 : Fight 100 LI
Round 2 : Fight 60 Barbarians
Round 3 : Fight 50 HI
Round 4 : Fight 40 Knights
Round 5 : Fight 40 Devils
Round 6 : Fight vs. a Firbolg Thug
Round 7 : Fight vs. a Banelord
Round 8 : Fight vs. a Doom Horror
Round 9 : Fight vs. a AQ
Round 10 : Fight vs. a SC Pretender
Round 11 : Fight an Air mage
Round 12 : Fight a Fire mage
Round 13 : Fight an Astral mage
Round 14 : Fight a tough anti SC mage
Round 15 : Fight a very tough anti SC mage, could be a Tartarian or something like that

The competition will be made with Zen's latest Mods, which are afaik :
Zens Pretender 2.2
Zens Spell 1.8
Zens Item 1.0

Rules:
-SC Chassis:
As SC you may take Pretenders and all Summons. If you chose a Pretender i will use a wished one though otherwise it will be difficult because of the varying HP depending on Dominion.
Between every Round of Combat the HP are fully restored and Afflictions are healed.

-Magic:
You get the initial magic skill of the SC + 10 levels of magic you may freely distribute. If the SC chassis has random magic you may chose the random. Example: You pick the male Tartarian who has 3 Randoms same path, 2 randoms same path and 2 randoms same path, they can stack.
So you can then e.g. pick 7 in one path or 5 in 1 path and 2 in another path etc. and after that you can still distribute 10 more magic levels to your liking.

You may use any spells. You may also carry up to 30 gems.

-Equipment:
You may chose 1 Unique item and the rest has to be construction 0-6 Items.
So if your SC has 7 slots you can pick 6 normal items and 1 unique or 7 normal items if you don't find the uniques worthy.

If you are interested pm me your SC with paths + equipment + scripting.
As soon as i have 8 or 16 different SCs i will start.

For further excitement we will reveal the SC choices and the enemies then and everybody can bet. You may bet who will become number 1-3 in each trial and who will become last.
That results in a maximum of 8 right guesses, that should be enough to guarantee that we have a betwinner http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

For comp 1, what will you do if two people choose the same unique item?

For comp 2, do you start with a new pretender for each round? Meaning if I use up all my gems the first round and got 3 afflictions, will that carry over?

Good question with the Uniques. I think i will solve the issue by modding the uniques to lvl 6 weapons if that should really happen. This way i should solve the issue (hopefully).

Comp 2: Between every round Gems + HP are restored and afflictions are healed.

I plan to do it with an edited map, probably i will just make 100 Minimaps with all the different settings http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.

Cool you can just give different commanders via the mapedit command the same uniques, i just gave to banelords fighting each other each one ember, and it worked perfect, no error, no crash, nothing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.

nice I sent you my pretender, hope he lasts through the first round http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.

Ok i recieved 2 Participants so far from Azhur and Turin http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

According the 15 rounds i wrote that it will be something like this, that means that it could change slightly, i might e.g. replace the devils by FoDs etc..

Once i have all pretenders recieved i will thinkout a point system for trial 2, the 15 rounds vs. different enemies.
The points will differ, for the first of the 5 rounds vs. a specific class of enemies there will be always the fewest points to score while for the last one if the SC succeeds he will get the most points.
It will be probably this way:
the 5 rounds vs. troops:
Round 1 : 1 point per dead troop + 100 points for a win
Round 2 : 1 point per dead troop + 200 points for a win
Round 3 : 1 point per dead troop + 300 points for a win
etc.

Vs. the SCs and Mages you will get only points for a win, probably the following points :
Round 1 : 150 points for a win
Round 2 : 300 points for a win
Round 3 : 400 points for a win
Round 4 : 500 points for a win
Round 6 : 600 points for a win

I think that the original point system (1 point per victory) is better. The idea is to build the best all-around SC. With different points, you encourage contestants to concentrate on the later rounds. I also don't like rewarding kills in addition to victories. Maybe you could keep track of kills for a tiebreaker, but the main focus should be on winning battles.

You might also consider having a couple of rounds with masses of lifeless creatures so that lifedraining is not always useful.

I am not submitting a SC, but that's my 2 cents anyway.

Lifedrain shouldn't be an issue at all. 3 Words : ZEN'S ITEM 1.0 !!!!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

AAHHHH red text, it buuurns!

I'd like to participate. Sounds like a lot of work on your part... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Will there be no restrictions on scripting mind-control spells? Those sort of made everything but MR and penetration irrelevant last time.

Yeah you can do mind control etc. too since then you might have good chances to win trial 1 but probably bad chances to win trial 2 vs. troops/mages and SCs. After every round everything is restored, so you don't take over your mind enslaved enemies and get stronger each battle.

Send me your SC as a PM http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
16 combatatants is maybe a bit too much, so far i only recieved 3.
So i will Aim for 8 combatatants now and maybe replenish the other 8 myself by using some cheaper SCs like banelords.

As soon as i have recieved all SCs i will publish them here with scripting + gear and then ppl can start betting http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Just include scripting + equipment + other important orders in your PM PDF http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I might wonder about that, actually. Hm --

Tartarian Titan (male), base 3/2/2 all astral, +10 more astral = 17 astral. Have Rune Smasher in one hand, Ring of Wizardry (or maybe the Green Eye), Robe of the Archmage, Spell Focus, Starshine Skullcap in head, possibly Crystal Shield (if it'd help). Should bring Astral to something like 21 (with shield), with +5 additional penetration from items. Even Master Enslave won't be very easily resisted, no? Could drop the Skullcap and use Amon Hotep for protection.

+10 magic levels is pretty insane...

There is n absolute limit on how many paths of magic you can start with, and how far Wish can take you. If we were abiding by those limits, a Tartarian would be forced to diversify into other schools of magic.

Still, with all the Astral lying around, I could see a perfectly good commander walking in with a Banner and boots of quickness only to have a Magic Duel scripted for the first turn...

Oh, and my SC is in. I'm trying something a little bit off the beaten path I hope.

You canīt get more than 10 base in a given path. Adding boosters would raise maximum possible astral to 16(17 with crystal shield, not sure if it works). that would require a hag pretender, starshine cap, forbidden light, ring of wizardry, ring of sorcery and crystal coin.

edit: well donīt regard the above. you can still empower after you have level 10. you can even get more than 20 base that way.

19 seems to be the limit, but boosters can still increase it.
At least i tried the map modding commands and 19 was the maximum path you could give your commanders with the modding commands.

Only 4 people have sent an SC so far.
With 4 SCs it is not a real competition though.
So please send your SCs, guys http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
