Actually a new Dominions 2 sub-forum for Scenarios and Mods.
They would like us to "migrate" discussions to it.
Should all discussions of map making and modding be moved there?
Ive always referred to maps as scenarios for this game. Its the closest we have I think.
Should it be the place to list completed works and update notes about them? It would make it easier to find such things without moderators having to keep the sticky notes updated.

I believe related discussions and stickies should be moved to these new sub-forums... currently the main forum has way too many stickies.

I do agree.
The new organization will be much more pleasant.

I've begun moving threads that are specifically about mods to the new mod forum. Threads announcing mods, threads discussing mods, questions about modding, etc. are all being moved. If I haven't moved something that you think should have been moved, send me a pm, but it will take me a while. After all, there are 153 pages of discussions to go through http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
I'm unsure whether I'll be moving map-related threads, although I do find Gandalf's argument that they are as close to scenarios as we have to be pretty convincing.

I seem to not have permission to post in the mods forum. Do I have to request special access?

send a PM to Mindi or an email to her at shrapnelgames.com asking about the access

Thanks for the heads up oversway, it's been fixed. You should now be able to post there.

Yeah, seems the permissions haven't been set. I just had Quantum_Mechanic test it, and he can't post either. I'll let Mindi know, if you already haven't.

Welp, guess I won't have to. Wow, we're good http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I think the map-related discussions should be moved too. Questions about map files and modding are often intricated. And when we propose a map to the community, we often propose scenarios to go with.

I know that most of my maps are scenarios. The allied AIs such as WEvsTHEM or the boosted maps such as "Poke in the EYE". Others such as extra hard versions of a map or something like SHepherds. Of course a map can be just a map but if we had something we called scenarios I think it would be in the mapping commands

If I rename the new subforum to "Scenarios, Maps and Mods" would that end this dilemma? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

That might be good. Im thinking that the main thing is to try and leave the main dominions 2 forum as a place that people can easily ask and get answers to "how do I play" type questions. If the latest conversations all seem to be individual games that are running, or higher level programming type questions (mods, maps, scenarios) then it doesnt make for as comfortable a "ask questions" section. IMHO

If that is so, shouldn't AARs go to 'Mods etc' too? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif

Actually I thought AAR's went to the multiplayer games-in-progress forum

Yep, it seems they do. I thought it was just forum for MP games, but it seems to have AAR even in its name... It seems Multiplayer section got divided up into Looking for Players and Playing the Game subforums.
