Hi everyone,

I've been playing for the 1st time WinSPMBT. Congrats to the designers. A quick question though: I've been noticing empty slots in the coutries' display when doing a battle/creating a scenario. Does that mean more countries are planned/ anyone can feel free to add his own coutries???

Have a nice day, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Hi,

If you try to alter the time index of your battle you will notice that several countries will appear or vanish. This is normal since during the last 50 years new countries were formed and others seized to exist.

The national flags will appear and disappear (or change) as your battle date changes in the battle set-up screens. Therefore all nations are not always available for selection. For example Mozambique 9/1974 12/2020, so the flag will not display before 9/1974. I presume this is what you mean by "Empty Slots"?.

You can see the availability dates for the nations in the game in the manual - use the "Historical Design Notes" link, and the table is in that section.

Try changing your scenario or battle date in these screens and you will see the flags come and go, or morph (e.g. Soviet flag to Russian).

Cheers
Andy

OK,

Thanks Andy for your explainations...But this is really a major step forward in the SP series. I wish I see more scens available soon.May add some from me as well.

That is what the Scenarios sub-forum is for, looking for scenario contributions to open the place up!

Looks pretty well that this has been fixed over the DOS version, where you had a marvellous exploit ability by changing the dates AFTER selecting the countries and the game didn't care.

But if I may ask a single question:
What if someone wants to alter country dates for some purpose? I know we already talked about this on the old list and the answer was firmly negative, but how will it go in the Windows version?
In other words, does more stability always lead to less liberty? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Sorry for the philosophy, but I will soon enough come across this problem

Cheers,
