We'll see if by the middle of next week we can get some more people.
I propose that if we can only get 4 or 5 we switch to a slightly smaller map. Thoughts?

Is this a stock game? (Or does it use a mod)
thanks,

I don't think we are using any mods for this game.

OK, I'm trying to join on the server site, but, well, I think I'm a total idiot, becuase I can't seem to actually JOIN the game...I go to the 24hr_host__Faerun listing, and I see two options "submit" or "reset"...but when I hit "reset" I get a "no actions specified" error. Clearly, I am a total doofus, or blind. Or both. I assume that I have to indicate my empire choice and other information (ok, I have no idea what a md5 nmbe is either...I assume it's a TCP/IP address...but this just leads me to believe I am totally unsure of what to do here...)
Sigh.
Oh, another thing: just to make sure I don't dissappoint anyone, I generally will not be able to do more than one turn a day...does the name "24hr_host" mean a tunr every 24 hours, or every 24 hours we all log in and do a bunch of turns at once? If the latter, then it's best for you all if I don't join...
thanks,
Alarik

It means one turn every 24 hours.
You join the game by running dominions and selecting the network option. The IP adress is dom2.mosehansen.dk and the port for this game is 2204. Submit your pretender and you nation will show up on the Mosehansen website as anonymous. That's when you click on the "That's Me" box and hit submit.
I usually make a shortcut with command line switches for each game so I don't have to keep typing in the port and IP Address.
dom2.exe --ipadr dom2.mosehansen.dk --port 2204
You might want to add these switches also.
-w
Starts dominions in windowed mode.
--clickvol 0
Turns off the annoying clicking sound whenever you press a button.

AGH! You're gonna kill me. I screwed up - I logged onto the server just to see if it would work, and I stupidly uploaded Ermor...my Ermor pretender is a non-god, didn't even spend many of the points...agh! Stupid newbie (smack! smack!)...is it possible to delete it and allow me to rejoin when I have made a decent pretender (and run it by people to see if it's at all decent?). Very sorry about this. I'm a dork.
thanks,
alarik

Unless anyone has any objections, we're going to try to start the game this Coming Tuesday. What fun.
Oh, if anyone cares, someone else is starting a new Victry point game on the server.

Which Ermor theme are you planning to use? I think this is going to be a Rich game, which will put Ashen Empire or Soul Gate Ermor at a disadvantage.

OK, I'll upload a'real' Ermor...but can I ask y'all out there where I might find a "tips on playing Ermor" or "the best pretender setup for Ermor is...' FAQ?
Sorry for all the pestering questions...

Ok guys...I'm hoping to upload my Ermor empire tonight...but can I ask this: if you were playing Ermor in this game, what kind of Ermor would you play? I figure that at this point the disadvatange of people knowing my setup is outweighed by the advantage of having good setup, given that I am a total newbie. At least this way I might be able to avoid being the first slain...

Hi Alarik,
My usefull Emor Hints:
Take an Immortal Pretender.
Dominon 8+
Forget Bloodmagic.
Take Deathmagic 9
Don not forget that "Raise Sceletons" is an nation specific spell, so you are able to take a standart Indieprov with only a few deathmages
I prefer the Ashen Empire Theme

I think that 24h for late game on faerun is immpossible for me.
maybe it'd possible to swith to 48h hosting at the late game?

Sorry I didn't see your post before starting izaqyos. With so few people we changed maps over to Inland.
But for the rest of you who are in game, we can modify the hosting time if it starts to consume too much time in late game.
Arg, foolish me not checking on things before starting up. Sorry bout that again.

Quickhost is fine with me.

Ok guys, so, really, the "Arena of Death" thing sounds like a bad deal to me. I mean, my guy who won it now has to defend his title every time it comes up again? Bummer (I assume none of you bit on that one...)
Also, I have a question: Is there a key for the banners? I don't know which empires have which banners, and it's not always entirely obvious (although in some cases, it just takes a little thought...)
thanks,
Alarik

Click on statistics, then pretenders of the world.
There will be a list of pretenders and banners.
Right click on the pretender name and the nation overview will show up.

A while back a motion was made to go to 'quickhost' - I realized afterwards that I am not entirely sure what that meant. I *assumed* that it meant doing turns on a much faster basis. However, if it means "run the turn as soon as all players orders are in, but don't force a turn if some orders are missing unless it goes beyond 24 hrs..." - then I could do it, becuase that would mean that we would be going 24 hrs if everyone was waiting on me. Since I do my turns on a different timezone than most others, if this is what quickhost means, then I could probably do it.
thanks,
Alarik

Ok, so, the Abysia player just kicked my toosh all over the place in a battle in which, if I had been looking at it beforehand, I would have definitely given the odds to myself. I had a lot more troops, and better spellcasters...now, I screwed up a bit on my troop placements, but really it seemed to me that the Abysian commander was busting out with a heck of a lot more spells than my dudes were...and I subsequently got wasted.
If the Abysia player is here, I would love to get their input as to how they saw the battle, and, especially, my weaknesses in it. (just trying to educate myself).
Thanks...

I didnt even intend to fight you in that battle, that was just my independent capturing army. I think the reason you died was:
raise skeletons is a good spell for taking indies it is a bad spell for fighting another opponent. Your pretender was exhausted instead of buffed by the time he had to fight. While my mages may have been ARGUABLY worse than yours, they were casting much better spells.
Thats just my two cents http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I can't get on either. You should send a PM to the game's owner to make sure he knows about the problem, since his nation has already been defeated.

Yeah, I can't get on either...I'd email my turn to him if I knew who to send it too...
billpaxton: thanks for the info! I'll try to incorporate it into my playstyle in a borg like manner...
