After much advice from various board members(THANKS!) I have had alot of sucess in my most recent game, using a level 9 nature dragon pretender.

I just summoned two tarrasques, gave them gift and reason and gave them each a ring of regeneration and a lycanthrops' amulet.

They each have 263 health, 32 strength, 20 protection and..... 74 health regen per turn, toss ontop of that five fear........they have been mowing down enemy armies by the zillions heh http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

........then lost them both to a solo mage who soul slayed em both... DOAH!

Well, eventually you would run into the problem that they would both turn into lowly werewolves anyway... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

A more optimum SC has enough slots that you can, among other things, give them magic resistance items.

.........they REALLY turn into werewolves? I thought that didn't actually happen.... how many turns, and do they keep any of their old stats?

How does a freakin dragon shrink to a wolf size?

I believe it is some % chance per turn, though I don't know the details. They might keep magic paths but I think the rest of the stats/abilties are erased.

As for where the rest of the mass of a dragon goes, beats me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

.....................GREAT.

My first SUCCESFULL game and I need to start over lol.

My entire empire is johtun(sp? the norse giants) with the theme that gives you a 500 gold leader unit.... my ENTIRE army is those decked out..... with amoung other things, lycanthrop amulets http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif.

What I like to do with Tarrasques is ... Empower them a bit. Give them some water - haste & BoW. Fire : at least a minor fire shield. Air : missile shield and also flight, so your terrasque can kill _everything_. Nature, for extra regen; earth (once at 2, or using gems, summon earthpower for fatigue), etc, etc.

Give a terrasque two or three magic paths, then add on a ring of wizardry if you can, or whatnot, they can be brutal.

No, need to start over. It's only a very small chance to transform into a skinshifter. If it happens you can just remove all items from the werewolve and move them to a new giant.

And as the upkeep cost is also strictly based on the base form, those werewolves won't cost as much upkeep as Niefel Jarls.

Dominions III will have Niefel Skinshifters (like Vanheim Skinshifters, they will turn into wolfmen with more hits and regen), so I presume Lycanthropos' Amulets will turn Niefel Jarls into gigantic wolfmen when the sequel comes...

Doesn't those Lycanthro amulets force the units to race into battle as well ??

You'd think it was magic or something...

One thing about the lyc amulets is that since they are cursed, they are easily found. So if they die, someone else may pick it up. With my luck it is usually a wimpy mage who finds them.

Then again, if the enemy wins, they may pick it up.

And Lycanthropo's Amulets indeed cause the wearer to rush into battle. They cause the unit wearing them to auto-berserk, and because they are already berserking when the battle starts they just rush in.

hmmm - evil thoughts of a bunch of scouts w/ Lycanthrop's being sent on a suicide mission against a mage-heavy army....

The mages might have their misc. slots full though.
