Just looking for opinions for what everyone sees as the best blood unit for an army:

Not knowing your starting race, any of your opponents or map size... and you start with 40 blood slaves... which would you purchase if you could get any?

1) Fiends of Darkness
2) Storm Demons
3) Devils
4) Demon Knights
5) Ice Demons
6) Imps w/ Devil Commander
7) Bone Fiends

Choose TWO
((Horrors weren't included since you can't get them by normal means))

It depends of course on who I am and what I want my demons to accomplish. Nations that can summon Storm Demons are not likely to be able to summon Bone Fiends, and vice-versa. And also, Devils are likely to perform better for Abysia than would Ice Demons, even if they had the means to summon any, while the opposite might be true for Jotunheim. In other words, I don't think asking which is better without any context makes sense - they all have their uses.

Assuming you don't know what you're starting race will be and you know you have a choice to start with any of these... which would you choose.
Imagine if someone was hosting a game and the host was not playing in the game. The host then said he would randomly choose a map each week and those participating would be randomly selected a nation yet first they had to purchase blood units from 40 blood slaves. Based on the cost of the spells for an individual blood unit the host would start the players with their selection(s).

Each nation would also start the game with 3 Bane Lords for the assistance in moving/commanding of these units.

I chose Imps & Devil because they fly. It also helps that I can choose where they appear, possibly catching an early enemy by surprise. And I chose Demon Knights because they are cool, and compliment ground army nicely. Flying isn't as great in battle as it is in the strategic map, and almost any nation can support Demon Knights better than flying demons, in thne early game.

It's a pity Spine Devils can't be summoned in greater numbers or with better slaves/soldiers ratio, because they are quite cool.

Under your special settings i voted Storm Demons (+staff of storms http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif).
Normally you get them so hard that you hardly ever have them. With a staff of storms they are imo the best Demon unit though.

You forgot btw. to include Vampires in your poll, they are a blood unit too and i still love them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

The vampires and dark vines were forgotten by mistake. It would be nice to have seen the ratio results for them too.

Fiends of Darkness and Demon Knights, though the latter are not absolutely necessary. The FoD is cheap and packs a huge wallop. They also have stealth, which can come in really useful.

The Ettins and Grotesque are fancy with Gift of Reason. I love death stingers! The Ettin has two head slots and 3 weapon slots. Think of the madness!
