Truper,
how are you finding those barbarian horsemen? I guess I should wait and ask your 1st victim!
Truper
August 25th, 2005, 01:40 PM
So far so good. They've done a wonderful job routing Barbarians, a job for which they're especially well-suited. Now, if only those Barbarian provinces weren't nearly worthless...

new turn - only the jots left to go
As to why this is called Truper's Revenge, have you noticed his insane out of the gate expansion? I send emissaries to the local independents, asking if they would kindly submit to my local authority, and they just laugh in my face. But when I tell them that my god knows Sedestar, the god of t'ien chi, a silence comes over them. They still laugh, but at least its behind my back.
Truper
August 25th, 2005, 10:08 PM
I believe that you will find that Sedestar is the false diety of C'tis. Jade, the one true god, is worshipped and loved by the people of T'ien Ch'i, and all those they have conquered.

BTW, Arch : Might I suggest editting the first post to have people listed by nations? IE :
Arco : Bookworm Joe
Ermor : Undead Ed
Mictlan : Vlad
Pangaea : Treehugger
I think players far more often want to look for the nation and see the player associated with it than the other way around.

he may well be - certainly the timing corresponds.
on sunday night he had not taken his turn; hosted monday morning - no expansion according to the charts.
Tuesday morning staled.
wednesday morning - I'll be at work, so i won't be able to watch him stale, but its almost host and he has not done his turn.
So looking like 3 stales.
As well, no contact either here or on IRC since saturday.
Which means we can force host or set to AI - hopefully sheap set a master password.

Mictlan would have just needed to log in to confirm he'd been eliminated. If Vanheim would just hurry up and finish off Jotunheim, we might be able to pick up the pace of this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Cainehill
September 10th, 2005, 11:43 AM
If we'd've set Jotunheim to AI the pace would be going much better, and Vanheim wouldn't be getting a bloody free ride. Feh. This is why I was against recruiting outside the blitz regulars.
Huzurdaddi
September 11th, 2005, 02:51 PM
Yeah. Two nations have gotten a pretty free ride so far. It's going to make the game an uphill battle for the rest of us.
Ah well, on the plus side we get to see some neat battles.
Cainehill
September 11th, 2005, 05:16 PM
Neat. KingLear doesn't seem to have ever posted on the boards, making it hard to ask him why he hasn't gone AI.

Weird. A global is reported as going up, but doesn't show in the list of global enchantments. Does this mean Vanheim's caster died the turn he casted it? Bad luck to cast Gift of Health if so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

no, it was a bug. also ulm's "mechanical militia" mysteriously disappeared at the same time - though it is conceivable (if rather far-fetched) that ctis dispelled it. Who else would bother?
also, quantum's on the case of trying to contact sheap to get the turn length increased - but there are no guarantees that it will be done this turn, so pay attention ;p

Uh, 60 hours sounds fine to me. Especially with Truper going all, "Aaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiii, I'm crazy!" it won't be many turns before your domination is complete anyway.

Wow. That was some wild battle - I lost my army, except for a handful of my most valuable mages, but won and destroyed some serious moolah in abysian troops and SCs. As is often the case, the mortal troops routed...
of course i had one of my SCs killed by his stupid cyclops, in a different battle, so the turn certainly wasn't all wine and roses

October 26th, 2005, 08:39 PM
sorry i had ironhawk reset it for 72 hrs - the game's still entertaining, but a lot of work - and i'm worried about next month, since I have 3 11-12 hr days in a row and if a turn falls square over all 3 of them...
that was good work there sedna; I really flaked on throwing my pretender in like that w/out fatigue support.
If you all went against me I'd probably lose just because I couldn't handle the micromanagement http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif - I'm open to a "pantheonic victory" if people want; or we can slog it out some more. I've put the hurt on abysia finally, at least.

But good job surviving Caine. Pan is really a pain to finish you showed me in this game and even more in Götterdämmerung where Aku couldn't finish you neither for the whole game.
I would vote for Archeo declaring winner but since my nation is so small i see my vote insignificant and would suggest that we should follow what the 4 major nations Oceania, Vanheim, Abysia and Tien Chi suggest.

i'll get my turn in this evening.
Truper
October 27th, 2005, 05:20 PM
Well, here's what I'm thinking. For the past 10 or 15 turns, we've been running right up to the deadline on the timer, whatever the timer is set at. This indicates to me that people regard playing their turns as a chore, rather than something enjoyable. I check in every 12 hours or so, to see if there's a new turn, and unless its after the expiry of the timer, the answer is always no. Since the slower a game goes, the less interest I have in it, I vote we just call it off.
Cainehill
October 28th, 2005, 03:20 PM
People also wait til the last moment to keep the clock from creeping forward when it's running QH - one of many bad things about QH as the game runs on.

Ah, so close to victory in storming that castle. I love the nether darts (to bring down MR) + enslave mind combo on SCs. I would have won too, if not for those meddling skeletons.
But seeing, as I still managed to lose... I'm prefectly fine calling it quits. I think everyone who's written in so far agrees- though we have yet to here from puffyn.
archaeolept
November 1st, 2005, 12:53 AM
that was another expensive victory for me - yeah, the nether darts were sweet; but i decided to scrape together what i could to hold onto that castle. It was one close fight, no doubt.
I'm still enjoying the game; it's just that i can barely get in the moves http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I would have won too, if not for those meddling skeletons.
OTOH, i would have wiped out your retreaters if not for that meddling T'ien Chi. I guess Trupe feels protective about your water queen, or something... ;p

I can take or leave this game right about now, being a bit busy these days and also realizing Vanheim is regrettably well poised. Can't seem to get supercombatants to last more than a few turns of combat these days, but otherwise things aren't entirely hopeless... and I don't want to call it quits if someone out there is still enjoying it.
