I have recently hit upon the idea of creating armoured infantry in the game as a sort of terror weapon (when I say armoured inf I mean troops in armoured suits like those used in warhammer 40000 etc). I can however not use the SHP I created with these units set up as infantry so I have to use them instead as tanks of a sort and that is troublesome so I was wondering if this could be got around so that they behave like infantry and are classified as such but are harder to kill (no lmg or small weapons deaths etc).

Any and all help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

By the way this game rocks!

the "armoured infantry" idea is completely outside the game design parameters. Some SF guys are using helicopter types as "mechs/starship trooper" type grunts. (As in starship trooper the book, not the Hollywood dross film http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Use Bike class units, you get to use your own graphic for that. Don't forget to either Find out which Default is leg movement, or give them A/T wheeled class.

There are two ways of creating their more surviablity. 1 is give the units an armour value (You can do that with bikes), or make the unit have more men. Say 5 men =1 guy in power armour.

I started with the X=1 man system, and it sort of worked. I really should head back and experiment with AV's for my 40K mod.

Ok I have set the unit up as you said and armoured the troops as well. How do I make it possible for one of the three mech soldiers in a squad to disaapear as regular infantry do when they are killed?

Better yet how do I stop small arms like AK,MG etc from killing the mech troops, what do i need to change in order to make that possible?

The armour value. Give it something small like one or two..

I got around the problem by using larger infantry formations. Just change the number of men to something insane like 20-30, figure each PA trooper has 5 hitpoints. Unfortunately there isn't a much better way to do it.
