I noticed weird bug (or something like that) today. I chose US, attack vs. Russians defend June 1970 (26000 points per side) and used "random river". Then checked map area (120x160 hex) and noticed that there were too much "urban" area (enormous city map area near random river). I wanted to remove that "urban" area by changing value 3 into 0. As I did that, game totally freezed http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif and it seemed to make new map until end of world... So after some minutes I stopped whole game and began to write this... I remember that this has happened in previous SPWW2/MBT versions too. I thought that this bug was fixed in v.2.0? Is it really bug or just "a bad luck"?

Hi,
I am not sure, but sometimes the map could create some very weird road patterns... maybe this was the case.
Anyway, if the rarity of this issue is very low then you may call it..."a bad luck"!

If it starts building a city on you sometimes it bogs down depending on your system and what else you may be and may have been running. A couple of times during development something similar to this happend to me and once you exit and reboot it clears and you might not see it again for months

Well, I tried same thing after my previous message. I chose same nations, year and month, and similar attack/defend thing and same sized map. Then I tried to change urban value into 0, game freezed again (at least AI seemed to make new map forever until I stopped game)... Maybe it's "rare" thing but I hope that problem will be fixed sometimes in future. I don't know is this depending about size of map (120x160 too much for AI?) or just about coding for AI?

OK, give me all the details on the map you were generating and I'll dig into this further. You say you set it to random wide river but you don't tell me how wide you made it

When you generated that map did you see only a small portion of the mini map ?

And WAS there a "random river" on the map when you re-generated it?

Try generating a map like you did only this time try 1 for urbanization and let me know if that takes as long as zero
Also, if you think it's taking too long try pressing ESC. That seems to clear it.

Well map was 120x160 hex and when game asked how wide I typed "4". Then map appeared, river was on the left side and urban city area on the right side. I can try use "1" next time...

Now it worked ok with "1". Should I avoid use too wide option (not sure are 7-9 too much?) for random river for generated map perhaps?

I'll run some more tests but I think it's getting confused by the random wide river settings and getting itself into a loop when you regenerate but it's not a serious problem, use whatever width you like and *IF* the map seems to take too long to regenerate just press the spacebar or ESC and that will interupt the loop and produce a map no problem.
