To my history and gaming grognards...Back to the helos, guys. Does anyone know what helicopters were operational in late 1962?

There are a few listed for the USMC such as the H-34 Sikorsky H-19 and the H-34 "Dog."

I just wanted to verify that these were available and was there any other. I think the Huey did not become operational until 1964. Is that about right?

Looks about right!

The CH-46 Sea Knight, H-53 Sea Stallion and UH-1 were all in development and/or testing in 1962, but none were in regular squadron service. For the Army the HC-1B/CH-47 (Its designation changed in 1962) was also working up to squadron delivery in 1963.

Wild Bill, I think the huge CH-37 Mohave was operational during this time. This is a Sikorsky with large clamshell doors at the front. It can carry a couple of Mitey Mite jeeps. It was procured in 1956, and was used to recover downed aircraft in Vietnam. Hope this helps.
