View Full Version : Bug when playing on a graphicless server?

I have a graphicless server running. Since my laptop was unreachable, I needed to do my turn on the server itself (WinXP). Therefore I started another instance of Dom2. I selected "Play an existing game" an played. However, Gods_Eye reports that my nation did not submit its turn yet! What will happen now?

Will the graphicless server process notice my turn
once another player submits his turn?

Should I choose "Network" and connect to the server itself instead? Wont this mess up the directory on the server?

What should I do?

I've had no problems playing on a (graphicless) server computer by starting another instance, choosing "Network", and putting in the address 127.0.0.1 (the local machine).

If you've done your turn as you describe, I guess that the server will not become aware of your having done so, but I also bet that if the server hosts it will properly process your turn (as the file is there, already).

Thanks for the info, I was afraid to connect to myself...

Meanwhile, another player happened to upload his turn and now the server is aware of it. So it is actually a feature, for it means that one can play without triggering a Quick Host...

Good to know. Though, you can always just save and quit if you don't want to trigger quickhost.
