Last word received was Dominions_3 was scheduled for Dec._2005... since we haven't seen any screenshots yet at end of November I expect the release date has been pushed back. That's fine... I've got plenty to keep me busy.
Just wondering if we can get an estimated release date.

i'm strongly in the "when its done" camp http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
I figure the more time and polish they put into it the better
Its not like they've dissapointed me yet...

I'll opt for good. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
But hey Illwinter how about giving us at least a screenshot to drool over? Even if it's only of a half-finished menu screen? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

When it's done, definitely.
Status reports are still fun to read!

As I originally posted I'm just looking for an update.
If it takes another year or two thats fine... but give us gamers a ballpark timeframe.
?Spring_2006?, ?Summer_2006?, ?Winter_2006,?
The original estimated release was DEC_2005 and big fans are curious where the game currently stands.

The latest official news:
Johan K. on the Modding Commands Brainstorm thread:
"Nice thread. I was just working on getting the modding operational in Dominions III and a mod thread is good for inspiration. Dom 3 is more mod friendly internally which should allow for more moddable things than previously. It is already better than dom2, but I think most of the new potential will have to wait for a patch. Have to finish up the game first."
So, the game is going well, but isn't finished yet. I quess the intenal parts of the game are more or less complete, as some kind of modding tools have already exist. I think there's more than just "the finishing" left, though. But things are proceeding: the patches have been mentioned earlier (as possibilities of Slavic and Finnish nations appearing in a patch), and now came up again... If they have to make a patch, the game will come out before they can incorporate those things in it.

That's a good post Endoperez... unfortunately that still does not provide us with any ballpark timeframe for the release date.
Since we haven't seen any screenshots yet I would say the release has been pushed back from the original DEC_2005.
Perhaps one of the developers can post a ballpark release date.

This doesn't answer the ballpark question but I recall reading that redoing the thousands of unit images was taking a long time. Has that been finished up? Or is that part of the "Have to finish up the game first" ?

A question for the devs : will the AI be a little more reasonable in terms of declaring war?
I ask, because I just got reminded of one of the reasons I find playing SP distasteful even for test games : a 267 province map with 13 AI nations : turn 3 I get the news that Pangaea is declaring war on me, when I haven't taken a single province, etc, etc.
Combining this with the AI's penchant for firing seeking arrows, etc, from across a huge map without meeting, this really kills the single player game for me, even when it's just for experimentation.

I agree with Cainehill...
And really hope there will be some "diplomatic options" in DomIII.

i agree because i know there is the whole not mixing religions thing but atleast a temporary truce?

Is this why I have such a rough time against multiple normal difficulty AIs? I just always end up surrounded on so many fronts it is impossible to keep my temples and such protected. Unless I build castles all over the place, which hardly seems fair, since the AI can't build them nor capture them. It seems I can only win on easy difficulty, and only if I can crush a couple nations early to get a fast economy rolling.
