I equipped a Nebular Plow (in the demo), but it doesn't seem to help the estimated travel time through nebulas - any tips?

The plow should push the nebula's out of the way, but it won't actually increase ships speed.

The ETA meter doesn't take the plow into account, but it does work.

However it can sometimes take while to get started, so if the nebula is right next to you as you take off you're be mired in it for a bit before the plow kicks in.

I never used it much, but I think once you push it out of the way, it stays there and thus creates a clear corridor between the two systems you use it. (?)

Until you run through the nebula in another direction, yeah. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Remember you lose points when you use the nebula plow because you are destroying the enviroment

The plow can speed your initial trip, but there's only so much nebular matter it can push out of the way without slowing down. Thin bits will be plowed through quickly, but when you are going through thicker bits, you'll still slow down. Of course, the trip back along the same path will always be full speed (unless you have plowed something back across the path again.)

Cool! Thanks! I hadn't tried it before this advice... I figured it would just be an invisible speed effect...

Interesting - it really depends on the map and what other drives are available, whether it makes sense to use it or not.
