This is the games poll - hope I didn't miss anything. Please vote for any game that you want to buy, or think you'll want to buy, or want to hope that the you'll still want to buy after the reviews come out. For example, if you're like me and think, 'I want to buy Elder Scrolls IV if the pre-release hype is all true, but not if it turns out to have show-stopping problems like Morrowind did' - then vote 'Yes'. Because today, we are all living in a 100% optimistic fairyland! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Also vote 'Yes' if you already own a game, as some have been released.
Write-ins are welcome!
...and lastly, before voting, you may wish to consult this (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=399689&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1) thread, which discusses and links to many of the games.

I am curious which RPG will win, Gothic 3 or Oblivion http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
And i am also very curious how many vote for Battle for Middleearth 2, it might make me play RTS a lot again. If they manage to balance the 6 Nations BfME 2 might beat Starcraft and become the Mainstream-Game of 2006 for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Isn't BFME made by EA?
I will never purchase any of that company's products.

I hadn't realized that it was going to appear this year. I've been considering that one for half a year already, but with school I can't do anything about it. Final exams and all... But I'm definitely interested in it, so that's one Other vote in the RPGs.

No, still free. 1.0 is out, and they're working on v1.1 now (just released an unstable development version).
I have earlier discussion on this forum to thank/blame for introducing me to Wesnoth. I didn't really need another game to play!

Eh - couldn't find any information on Sword of the Stars on the wiki, except it's 4X and it isn't done. Hard to vote for it based solely on that information. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I assume that by analogue you mean pen and paper tabletop roleplaying games. If this is so your list is woefully short, and with no write in option.

There were only two suggestions for "real world" games in the suggestions thread. I meant to put an "other" option, but I misentered a number, and didn't want to retype all the prior poll entries...
You can certainly add a write-in to the thread. There's no way to include write-ins in the actual poll regardless of whether an "other" option is present, so just put it in a reply.

There's also a discussion in the SE4/5 forums here at Shrapnel about SotS...

To all of you who listed Wesnoth -- you should try out the free beta for Land of Legends! They're fairly similar, though I bet you can guess which one I like more. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I play both too and can confirm they're somewhat similar in regard to their principles. They play fairly differently though - LoL being much faster, with smaller maps and no RPG elements, but more tactical choices in battle - due to the fact that many creatures have ranged attacks/spells (sometimes with as far a range as 5-6 squares), you don't have to stick with combat in adjacent hexes.
Both are pretty cool (but only one is free ...) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

It ended with January... so these results are final.
The big winners (with correct percentage calculations) appear to be:
Space Empires V (68%)
Dominions III (66%)
Civilization 4 (44%)
TES IV: Oblivion (34%)
Galactic Civs II (27%)
Battle for Wesnoth (27%)
Neverwinter Nights 2 (25%)
Bear in mind there is a rather harsh sampling bias, due to my choice of threads http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Regardless, the conclusion is unchanged - Shrapnel fans are a highly anomalous group. For evidence, please note Item #1: The World of Warcraft expansion pack tied with "Galley Battles" and "Hearts of Iron 2", neither of which can be found at your local Wallmart =)
