Just wondering...
Do the AI opponents know how to pool gems ??
Example:
If the AI is given 4 immobile commanders at the start of a game with items which generate a gem each turn... will it be smart enough to pool those gems every once in awhile ??

As it casts quite expensive globals sometimes I think it does ... .

I think the AI does pool gems once in awhile... because we know when the AI plays the blood nations it has to pool the blood slaves for casting. Very curious if it actually will pool all types of gems.
Based on the responses so far... looks like only the developers would know the answer to this question.

if you want to test it, just give the AI a pretender/commander that generates gems. Then fight it.

Would love to test... at work and won't make it home for another 3 days.
I believe to truly quickly confirm if the tests works the following will need to be done:
Give the AI a starting global spell like "Stellar Focus"
Give the AI many immobile commanders with clams
Make sure one of the immobile units can cast the spell
Set research as very hard... just as a safety precaution.
Within a few turns the global spell would be seen.
