Try this little experiment--

Get a golden canister, and the thing that lets you visit black holes. Now completely fill up your cargo bay.

Visit a black hole. Use the canister. You now have an item stuck in your cursor, with nowhere to drop it. Since you're holding an item, you can't leave the system. All you can do at this point is quit.

D'oh.

Interestingly enough, agreed. You should be able to drop stuff on a black hole the same way you do any other planet, you just shouldn't be able to get it back... ever.

Galactic environmental regulation prohibit dropping trash into black holes.

Please put litter in its place...

Or the Kawangi will get you. /threads/images/Graemlins/Cold.gif

Alternatively, you could modify the inventory system so that item-giving scripted events are exempt from space constraint checks. So at worst the cargo bay might be overstuffed by a couple of items. Not really exploitable, and far better than having stuff shoved onto your cursor.
