As the name suggests this is a thread for peoples favourite blesses. just say what your bless is and for what race/unit, why you chose it and whether its your main strategy or just a compliment to it.
have fun

Fire9 and Astral9 for Ermor... gives you hard-hitting, lucky ethereal (immortal in CB) shadow vestals. Actually, I've never tried it, considering I like good scales... and it wouldn't be a good offensive strategy anyway.

just a note: astral 9 is twist fate not luck and the reason i wouldnt do that bless is the fact that your getting 2 vestals per turn capitol only
ps: im glad to see threats can make people post http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Mictlan, FOB, W9F9B9/10
Gives you amazing earlygame sacreds and good blood hunting with the Fob.
If your enemy has not a good SC god he is probably in trouble, and even the SC god is often in trouble since your eagle warriors can attack him before buffing and the jaguars are quite good, and sometimes you luck and curse him with the b9 curse.
Normally i wouldn't take the b9 bless but for mictlan it is quite good.
Also note that your god can summon most of the blood royality without any powerup items http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

The best bless, of course, is A10E10F10W10S10D10N10B10. For some reason there is no pretender that would allow for this combination. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
On realistic games, I might take e.g. Fire 9 Air 6 Phoenix for Man, Tuatha, Vanheim etc, or W9E4 if I wanted to have fun with Claymen.
"Best" is relative, though. The one I used in my thus far only DomII multiplayer game was Water 9 Son of Niefel, with Utgård theme. The blessing itself wouldn't have been worth it, I'm not sure if I recruited a single Woodsman in the whole game. However, it made every Jotun Herse a force to be feared. My Seithokna researched Evocation at top speed, and I was able to start using Falling Frost surprisingly soon. Quick drop to Alteration two doupled the mayhem, and Sudenhuuto amassed hundreds of kills in few turns. My Seithokna researched continuously until Evocation 7, at which point I could have transformed my army of resesarchers into army of Eagle-Eyed Nether Darters. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Yes. Often, 'best' amounts to 'the one that works most often with the strategy I use most often'. With other games, there might actually be a 'best' strategy, and often that wouldn't even need any more discussion about its merits. Asking for 'best' is rarely worth the answer. Favourites are much more interesting.
Suden huuto, 'the cry of a wolf', an eerie voice that makes the hapless prey shudder in an ancient memory, a flashing image of a thousand frozen corpses that the cold winter consumed, and a cold breath felt before the icy fangs close around your throat. /threads/images/Graemlins/Cold.gif
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I quess you never knew the Finnish translation. I enjoyed that game. I'll have to try out the Niefel Skinshifters in MP once Dom!!! is out. The DevDiary never mentioned what they turn to, but I quess it must be bears. Wolves are rather small, after all. Or maybe they turn into Moose! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
How effective are the Broken Ermor sacred maidens? They are undead, and limited in numbers, but they have high def and start ethereral. I think they could do very well in the early game. They have spears IIRC, but the normal ones, not Phantasmal. Maybe mediocre (4-6) Blood and Fire and/or Water 4. Blood Fountain is worth a Growth scale, usually... But it would feel strange to take Growth as Broken Empire Ermor!

f9 d- i kind of like on them, they are effective for their free-ness but you cant base your plan on them alone. if you can fit f9 into and ermor strategy they work very well though imo, the fear just helps break the enemys .how about f9 d4-6 and b4-6 for their bless, they have flaming weapons, slight fear, are quite strong, are ethereal, have high defence and are immortal. not to mention that imo they would work rather well with some vampires that this pretender could summon later on (not to mention that this pretender and ermors mages can forge almost anything an sc/thug would need)

they're pretty useless base game - since by the time you can amass a force of them no one cares anymore http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
in the CB mod they're immortal, which makes them useful at least. And in a blitz game they can be horrific.

Has anyone tried a e9 blessing for abysia? It seems like it could be good for them. The lava warriors get really nice prot and the reinvig helps the high enc for the lava warriors as well as your mages. Pythium might have a similar benefit for e9? Although with both of those nations perhaps you are better off with good scales?
A n9 blessing for pan and jotun are common. f9 for Van and Man:LoT.

the problem w/ base aby blessings, is that it takes so long to accumulate a force its not really worth the bless - of course, e9 also helps your fire priests though

My favorite is earth 10 with Arcocephale.
As all my mages have astral it's easy to make lots of Shroud of the Battle Saint, then all my casters have a base reinvigoration of 5 and 9 protection / 0 encumbrance for only 5 astral pearls.

and e10 reduces the fatigue of your heavily armoured sacred hoplite guys aswell

This is a great tip. I have been experimenting with e9 bless and Arco and had good results using priestesses and heart companions, but certainly this is a good addition. On a side note, one might argue that this applies to all nations that have access to astral...

Isn't it cheaper to go for relief?

apart from the fact that arco dosnt really have access to it

Not sure E10 is worth it - too expensive for the huge extra cost. But E9 is great for Arco, perhaps mixed with another bless as well - I like E9 N4, or E9 D4, or N9 E4, key for me is having either a strong E or N bless with them.

the e10 extra point of reinvig is very useful on the mages although yes including n/d is good for heart companions

Does the Shroud of the Battle Saint also cut upkeep fees by half, as for blessed units?
Arralen
March 22nd, 2006, 12:27 PM
AFAIK, no:
Upkeep is halved for units with the 'holy' (blessable) tag in the unit data. This has nothing to do with actually being blessed (what the shroud does).
Appointing an unit as prophet makes it upkeep-free, though.

which is why its good to prophtise expensive commanders (such as neifel jarls)
