also, where does one find worthy heroes mod?

Cainehill
March 22nd, 2006, 04:57 PM
Note that using the "Complete" CB mod overrides or conflicts with Worthy Heroes - better to use the individual CB mods, and then the Worthy Heroes mod, as it actually has Worthy Heroes, while CB nerfed many back down to relative uselessness (not to mention co-opting and subverting Turin's intent for the original W.H. mod - the heroes really ought to be pulled back out of CB imo).

As far as where it is - look here (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=358700&page=2&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1).

I could probably stick the Worthy Heroes into CB 5.4 complete, if you like, to make it easy for everyone... let me know here if you do.

Well heck, put me down for ermor then, I could use a new pbem game

Any idea how quickly you plan for the turns to go Animal? 24? 48? I have no real preference, just curious.

Morkilus
March 22nd, 2006, 06:50 PM
Well, here it is... I can't test it right now, but I don't see why it wouldn't work; it is the CB 5.4 complete, with the original heroes mod replacing.

Those are some pretty strong words; the vast majority of heroes have always been indistinguishable in CB vs. worthy heroes. Furthermore, in the latest version I put back the few heroes I could remember having changed.

I don´t want to play, but I have a new somewhat experimental version of my hero mod for you. It further improves the melee heroes and gives ulm´s heroes some nifty special abilitys. It also fixes some mistakes.

Perhaps it was a bit strongly worded - but grabbing all the "good" mods and embedding them into the CB series was a bad idea imo - Worthy Heroes was a stand alone mod, and as such, it could be used, not used, or updated by Turin without consideration of the Conceptual Balance series. And discussions on irc had indicated that you removed some abilities because you didn't think they belonged, while others it was unknown for a while whether it was simply a glitch (hero losing immortality) or philosophical difference, such as Orokestes losing his very minor forge bonus.

While... Bah - I don't mean to be expounding on my original comments. Look - the time and effort you, Zen, Edi and others put into the mod is appreciated, but I think somethings were better left undone.

I must admit I'm a bit astonished this is much of an issue at all (what other mods were embedded in CB?). There were some very minor edits made to the hero portion of the mod in Turin's absence, but not only were these so small as to have almost zero impact in the course of a game, there is no problem with changing them back (and incorporating any new changes) if he wishes.

Anyway, as I recall, activating the worthy heroes mod at the same time as CB would in fact overwrite any CB changes.

[/quote]hmm, it's messier then, possibly renaming worthy heroes to something that would put it higher on the list than CB would do it. If it is really a big issue I suppose I could go ahead and release a new CB version with Turin's lastest mod in it.

Animal

Still need Pangaeas and Ermors turns.
I would like to keep the diplomacy in the game.
It will keep it a bit more realistic, because people will have to wait for the turns to make any strategies or tactical decisions. I'm not saying people have made any alliances or anything on the forum. Just crossed my mind.

Hmm... The deaththemes are found wanting in playing speed. Could it be because of the two peas hardly ever colliding in

I'm so sick of computers and electronics in general. We were at my girlfriends parents for the holidays and I tried for two days to move a couple of files between two laptops. Never got the machines to find oneanother. It really shouldn't be so hard.

And for the last 2 days I've been trying to fix my brothers DVD-player. Damn thing reads and writes CD's, but doesn't read or write empty DVD's.

No disk drives. And the files were so big it would have taken ages to up- and download them with a 512/512 kbits cablemodem.

A dominions related question:

If my mages summon creatures in battle and then flee will the summoned units rout/dissolve?

Grizannor
April 19th, 2006, 01:18 PM
I guess it depends on units. Atleast skeletons and such will dissolve.

shovah
April 19th, 2006, 01:38 PM
the units will not rout aslong as their is one mage/unholy priest/commander capable of controlling them i think so 10 mages, 9 scripted to raise skeles, raise skeles, raise skeles retreat and 1 scripted to raise, raise, raise, raise, raise, spells should keep them fighting.

Whats the status on this game? It has been awhile since I've seen a turn.

I'll be away this weekend if a turn comes out, but I'll be able to play it early monday.

we are currently where we were at before you decided to make war with me shovah, incase you are eager to find out. instead of digging deeper into your land, I am regrouping for a stronger force, also allowing you to pull back to your capitol, and hunker down, since thats the safest place you'll find to hide from my armies.

Don't feel bad, I made the same mistake of warring with C'Tis early in the artifact game.

shovah
June 2nd, 2006, 07:29 PM
1: im not afraid of your armies, i saw them a long time before we warred and 2: you havnt seen all my guys, incase you hadnt noticed pans troops are mostly stealthy. and do you really think that i would back up to my capitol while you make a stronger force? i might be dumb but im not that dumb.

Nice fight there wish. I came out of it financially worse but i didnt lose mages. for those of you who have no clue what im talking about its my (just) loss in last battle vrs ctis. killed 57 of 70ish troops (rest fled) 10 of 10 undead and 3 sauros. i lost a few harpys and satyrs and 18! white centaurs. by my calculations i lost about 500 gold more than ctis but no mage time so... well fought my friend |(now let the VQ crush me...)

Hi all. I am vacationing in Mexico right now, and so have no access to my computer to play my turns. I was hoping that someone could take over my turns for me for a few weeks. I am playing ulm right now. Animal, I was hoping that you would be able to take over my turns for a few weeks since you have to host anyway. My internet connection is spotty, so I may not be able to write back for a bit. Thanks all.

KissBlade

I don't think it's a good idea for me to give my nation (who's actually in a rather good shape) to someone who's already fallen out of the game. Plus you've went AI in this game and staled out in dragon senate ... which leads me to think you don't have a great track record =(. Sorry.

shovah
August 17th, 2006, 10:51 AM
I staled out in the dragon game because, due to some random effents and indy attacks i lost my pretender and all but two provinces (the ones i lost were instantly countered)

Hey, does anyone actually MIND if I dropped out of this game? I mean, sure it'll be fun for you guys to try to take down my vast empire and all but I think it'll be only a matter of time before I set up the VP sweep but I really lost interest in this game and have been really lazy with scripting, etc. If you want, perhaps Animal can take over my turns or set me AI to let you guys fight it out or something? I can also continue playing if you wish but I've been looking for a sub since 20 turns ago or so! XD

I think we can all say that T'ien C'hi is the winner.
It's pretty clear that even when joining forces the remaining nations can't beat the TC.

So we'll declare Kissblade the winner.
