Are the IGF and GDC all part of the same thing?

They're not exactly the same thing, but they are connected. The IGF Awards is described as one of the highlights of the GDC. I'm really looking forward to the April 7th episode of GameHead on Spike TV. They'll be showing coverage of the IGF Awards ceremony.
