Dear shrapnelgames,
please use a part of the huge cash from all those dom3 preorders to set up an offical dom3 wiki right from the start. Wikipedia is not the place to do a overview/discussion of all those new dom3 ages/nations combinations and if we have to live with adds on a wiki it could as well be adds from shrapnelgames. A huge bonus would be that i could log in with my shrapnelcommunity login name. Other games than dom3 would benefit from a wiki as well as soon as the infrastructure is in place.
I know that some people tryed to etablish a dom2 wiki but failed; but if a wiki is hosted or at least made official by shrapnelgames right from the start i bet it would be a success. As for the argument that there already exist a good web-forum: A web forum is not the same as a wiki and has slithly other qualitys. Especially for beginners a wiki (with an entry for each dom3 nation) is a better place to get an impression / look for compact answers about a dom3 nation/age combo than reposting the 200. time a beginner question or browsing all the 199 older beginner question threads and figuring out wich answer is still accurate for the current patch.

I'm certainly enthusiastic of the idea. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

How about an option that says
"Its a good idea, why dont you go ahead and do it yourself"?

I can see the benefits of a wiki but without someone managing it you end up with a flame forum. And there are security considerations also

I already did the wiki entry at wikipedia and write this request to shrapnel because i was unable to enter the dom2 someone set up times ago (i was unable to get an account for that wiki). The security reasons should be as dangerous as allowing people to post on the shrapnelboards, or are you hinting at something other than flames/abuse from users ?
As the dom2 forum is far from degenerating into a flamewar forum (my personal impression) why should a wiki be worse ? Especially if it is hosted / maintained by shrapnelgames and the user accounts are compatible. The beauty of a wiki is that flamewars are fought on the "discussion" site of an wiki article while the article himself will always display the "mean opinion of the (wiki-writing) masses".
I will be the first to volunteer as a wiki editor/flame guard/whatever, but what i won't is setting up and hosting a wiki myself.
Demanding cash (pre-order) for a closed-source software product and then answering polite requests with an "pay for it yourself if you really need it" seems arrogant for me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

Count me in, I'd love to contribute and vandal-guard, or whatever http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Request for official dom3 wiki from shrapnelgames
As pyg said above, a Dominions 3 Wiki has already been done. pyg has provided the Wiki link above, and here (I believe) is the post from Shrapnel declaring it as the official Dominions 3 Wiki.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=44186

The hard working Ich is the man to credit for the appearance of this Wiki, and along with receiving several large bags of gold for his efforts, he was also presented with a large choice of young virgins from which to select a wife and soulmate.

Indeed since this pivotal moment, Ich has been happily married to Maud T. Goat, and Dominions 3 has had a Wiki :)

Only thing to add is that maybe Edi could add a mention and a link to the Wiki in the FAQ, and possibly rename the thread something like "The Dominions 3 FAQ & IRC Channel / Wiki info".

do no take this as an offence but: :D
i doubt we can talk about huge cash.

Wikipedia is not the place to do a overview/discussion of all those new dom3 ages/nations combinations

you want info on a nation? we have a sticky.
you want info on as strategy? we have a sticky.
you want info on modding? we have a sticky .
you want info on something? we have a sticky.
yo want to discuss? wrote in the sticky and let's discuss.

for beginners a wiki (with an entry for each dom3 nation) is a better place to get an impression / look for compact answers about a dom3 nation/age combo than reposting the 200. time a beginner question or browsing all the 199 older beginner question threads and figuring out wich answer is still accurate for the current patch.

1)I learned what i know from this forum, i'm not smarter than 99% of the human kind.
2)search function is not evil, it may be hidden and difficult to use but not evil.
3)If you know about the wiki than you know about this forum, you know that this is a pretty nice community and that you can ask whatever you needs to know.

To repeat it again: no, it's useless, waste of resources/time/money like recruiting a scout in your capital.
Wait a second, why i wrote all this words when the ansewer is: "we have it" ?
No really, Ich's wiki is the official one

Do you realize that the post you are responding to is almost four years old?

Yes, this confused me for a moment too, then I realized that pyg was experimenting with some pretty serious necromancy.

I was in a competition with Maerlande... and well let's just say neither of us got banned... that time.

Necromancy? Or necrophilia? There's a significant difference. The suffix to the first one is hand. Second is love. Should I explain in more detail?

I could perhaps put on some old deer skulls and a pig hoof or two. We have some of those partially eaten by the dog. I'll try calling my ancestors. Pretty sure they were drunks too.
