So, i've been hearing about this new nation they're adding called Sauromatia. I'm not sure what to think about them yet. For instance, are they about snakes or (more) lizard-people or dinosaurs?
I think the addition of some dinosaurs would be pretty cool. I've made a little mod for Doms 2 that adds some dinosaur units, but lets just say my sprite drawing skills are not the best http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif . The addition of a dinosaur theme or nation is all that this game is missing (I mean, they have Terrasques, illithids and vampires for goodness sake http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ) There are so many options in the game, that I could make an army based soly on lion-only units and still have a a varied army. But sadly dinosaurs are not included.
I'm hoping that the Sauromatia nation/theme will be based around dinosaurs. I guess I just have a thing for them. Could one of the designers shed some light on this? Nothing too revealing, but maybe a gist of what Sauromatia is themed around?

Tribes resembling the Scythians and amazons described by Herodotos with a dominionesque twist. Mounted tribes using horses and lizards. Androphags and manslayers, soothsayers and transvestite enaries.

Nope. The witch kings who introduced cannibalism and manflaying to the androphags are powerful death mages. The warrior sorceresses on the other hand have retained some nature and water magic from their amazon past.

Hmm death, nature, water to a lizard/amazon nation?
I can see some role-playing there. Definetly fits some ladies I know. Lots of female pretender choices for that one I hope.

Sounds a bit like Miasma C'tis...but how does flaying translate into a magic skill?

Not to sound redundant, but I still think a dino-based nation or theme would be awesome. Maybe for Machaka or Mictlan, since neither of them have a special theme, and both are tribal societies that are similar to ones found in books like the Lost World.

Mounted tribes using horses
Has anything been done to improve mounted archers? Their cost effectiveness was somewhat lacking in dom2.

True...
one idea: horse archers can be made more valuable if by default every other turn they charge side to side before firing. This would allow them to get first melee strike on any individual units getting near mages.
or
dropping the cost of gold for these units.
or
maybe the developers already thought of something and fixed this.
