The server on which all the games that I host is going to be moving this coming weekend. Sheap (the machine owner) is moving to seattle and is taking the server with him. Theoretically his place here will have an internet connection so it will only result in perhaps a day or two of outage. But if it doesnt then we will have to figure something else out and it could result in more serious outages for these games.

I guess Ermor's imminent demise is convenient... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Thanks for hosting and going through the trouble with setting up this stuff Ironhawk, and thanks Sheap, wherever you are http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I may be able to host it on my daughters machine if it comes to that. Just let me know.

You are more than welcome, Mork http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif As are all the other players. Its not a lot of work and its very satisfying to me to run games for folks.
Gleep - thanks for the offer but it shouldnt come to that. The worst case scenario is that we put Sheap's server on my network here and just hammer it through my firewall somehow.

Well, I can't connect to the winnowing/Manifest destiny, I hope this is because the server's off the network a bit early, not just because my connection sucks. Well, either way many thanks to both Sheap and Ironhawk for the effort and time they've put into this.
(and if you could let me know if it's all my problem, that would be good too).

Iron, I can't get on to either game. Is the computer being moved now?
Ironhawk

Not to my knowledge. I thought that the move date was the 9th or 10th. Can't connect from here either. Right now I think we can assume this is just some downtime.

umm...i believe MD is supposed to host in an hour and a half, and i haven't played my turn yet. that, and i'm hosting a party tonight, so i don't know if i'll be able to play my turn tonight. so if it's not up by 7pm, can we get another 24 hrs plz? kkthx.
edit: just realized time is quite irrelevant with this crowd. this post was edited at around 3:50pm...so 7pm is 3 hours from post-time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Damn, I really don't want to stale this turn, oh well I hope it's not purely a network problem then.

I was just informed that the server was down for 6hrs today. Its back up but Sheap said he can't gaurantee connectivity while he prepares to move. Since he also told me that he was going to take down the machine tomorrow afternoon anyway lets just consider all these games paused from now until the server is reset in Seattle.

IH are we going to stall? Or have the timers been turned off?
This actually works out for me as I am heading out of town tomorrow.

No one will stall. The games were all shut down when the server went down earlier today and will not be restarted until the server arrives here. Time is effectively frozen for all these games.

it's all good as long as no one stales... maybe the 24 hour clock should be lengthened until the next round has gone by, whenever it starts again.

heh, guess there's a been a slight delay. that's fine, though, not like we can complain that you aren't hosting our games well enough http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
thanks again for all the work you're doing for this.

Yeah the delay is going to continue. Sheap's company bungled the temporary housing they had lined up for him and he is currently crashing at my place. Expect at least another couple of days before this all gets sorted out properly. Sorry about the delays, guys - I will keep you updated!

No problem about the delay. One request though. Since I believe the timer on MD was well under 12 hours (I think it was about 4 hours), can you ask Sheep to reset the timer, as we all have different scheduals and might not be able to get turns in before it hosts once the server goes up.

The remaining time before hosting is not saved anywhere, so the server will start up with whatever the standard hosting time is for the chosen command line options, or with no hosting time if those aren't set.

Sheap has given up hope of getting internet at his temporary housing thing. Tomorrow (saturday) he's going to come by and set up his server on my network. So barring technical problems the games should be back up then.

All my games are now back up. The ones I restarted include:
The Winnowing
Manifest Destiny (aka the New Noob Game)
Titan's Task
Let me know if I forgot any. The new ip that you must use is:
24.18.113.45
Ports should all be the same as your original game. Post here if you are having problems connecting. Its possible that you might tho I ran some tests with Q yesterday and it seemed ok.
Also, all these games are running with no turn timer, at the moment. Since they were offline for a whole week I am going to give people until midnight tonight to do turns. At that point, I will turn the timers back on. I think they were all 24hrs? Let me know if otherwise.
I have started all these games but havent turned the timer on

I would like to first say TT is over iron, arch won =)
