I know that spyes have often improved stealth so they are harder to discover.
Also they have instill uprising order that creates unrest in the given province (their target is told by a message of this activity. Also computer players never use this option).
Also they revel more info of the province they are in (magic sites for instance).
If you are sieging a castle only a spy can tell who is inside.

The question is:

If you have a spy during a siege but you are neither the sieging or the sieged. Which info do you get? the sieging army?(most likely) or you get any info of the defenders inside the castle in this particular case.

Nobody can learn anything about the inside of the castle. Theoretically, flying spies should be able to http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The besieger can, actually, get some information about the castle. He needs to have a spy in the province, amongst the besieging force, but I don't think the spy has to actually be sieging the castle.

I don't know about the original question, though.

Lol! As anyone who ever spent time in the military knows : people mostly only get promoted to above Major or Light Colonel because of incompetence. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Im retired military and I have always said that the military was one of the greatest examples of the "Peter Principle". Interesting reading. In short-form its like this..
Do your job well, get promoted. Do your job bad, stay where you are. Therefore, everyone will rise until they reach their level of incompetincy, and then stay there till they retire.
(dont ask me what I retired at) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Its kindof misleading in the light of what I said about Peter Principle since I retired at the lowest rank you can achieve and still retire. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif SSgt.

But there were other reasons. As soon as I got past the mandatory ranks I refused to test for promotions. That was fun since its supposed to be optional even though no one ever signed the refuse block.

For me it did 2 things. It allowed me to spend the entire time at the same base, which had the medical center my son needed. And, even though I didnt realise it till much later, it allowed me to beat the Peter Principle since I managed to never be promoted into a job I couldnt excell at.
