I use the Print Screen button when in full screen mode, then just hit Paste in your Paint Shop Pro, or whatever you have for image editing. Crop it to a smaller size, then attach in your post or host it on somewhere like Photobucket.com and write in the URL.

The screens don't auto-generate. An easy way to get screens it to use "prnt scr" and then open paint, and press "ctrl"+"v". This will make your picture appear in paint. Then you just save it wherever you want as the image format you want.

unless the game saves it for you, the windows default for screenshot is to save it in memory. You have to open a program (any program that allows pasting graphic images) such as paint, then use the "edit" menu to "paste" it. Then crop it, add text if you want, and "save as" to get a format you can use.

Saving as gif or jpg is good for webpages. ALso best for attaching here. To attach you need to do a full "reply" message instead of a "quick reply" screen (that box at the bottom of this thread). Then click the box for "preview and attach". (if you do quick reply then you can also hit "edit" for that post, then you will be in full "reply" screen where the "preview and attach" box will show up

You can also use "alt + print screen". The only difference is that it captures the contents of the game window instead of the entire screen.

There are dedicated 3rd party screenshot aps that give you a lot more control, and work in every game. Can find em on any fileserver, like tucows or whatnot.

Yeah I was doing screenshots for a tutorial in a game that didnt let me shell out to the paint program easily. It was a real pain to take a shot, quit the game, bring up paint, make my screen and save it, then load the game again. I found a neat app that let me take multiple screenshots that were all saved in memory. Abit of a memory hog (of course) but very handy for my purpose at the time.

By the way, speaking of screenshots... I might have to resurrect the tutorial I had half done for Dom2 when Dom3 comes out.

There are apps that save it to a gif/jpeg whatever you want when you press the hotkey. I've never actually heard of one that caches it in memory.

A number of them do, because it just copies the screen / window / region to the clipboard.
