View Full Version : Game Speed

Hey Folks,
Now that I have resolved my crash to desktop issue, I have another question.
As compared to (for example) SPWaW, SPMBT seems to run very slowly and labourously. In orther words, when I click on an ememy formation, there seems to be a pronounced delay between the click and my unit firing (half a second or so). The same holds true for both enemy as well as friendly force opportunity counterfire. It just seems that everything seems to run at a slowed down pace -- as if the game were a motor with a governer on it. IMO play seems slugish and it detracts from the "feel" of combat. Is there a way to speed up the performance of the game? What I mean is, a faster response time to mouse clicks (on attacks) and faster response times for opportunity fire etc. It would greatly improve the pace of the game.
Thanks in Advance
Krotos

When you start the game and the GameOptions program is running click on the MISC tab and adjust the values you find there until you find one that works for your machine
There are a very wide range of computers this game will run on but some people require fine tuning of those values beyond the "factory settings"

Hi,
Inside the GAME DATA folder there is the CamoGame Configuration Settings.
Open this file with notepad and alter the following settings according to your personal taste.
But before doing this you may simply modify the Animation and Delay settings from the preferences menu.
[graphics]
; graphics timings
; minimum graph delay (in milliseconds) between frames
; set to 0 to pump out graphics as fast as your CPU can handle,
; try larger numbers to slow down very fast CPU/GFX cards
Graphdelay=40
;How much to wait per hex a unit moves (Milliseconds)
UnitMoveDelay=50
;battle sounds level
BattleSoundsLevel=-600
[game]
;these will replace data/SPMBT.ini
;Set Scroll Delay 0=default, 1+ will slow scroll speed
ScrollSpeed=250
;Set Scroll sensitivity (in pixels from the edge)
;e.g. 1=1 pixel in, 10 =mouse pointer 10 from edge to start scrolling
;n.b. - 0 or less effectively turns mouse scrolling off, for those who hate it!
ScrollSensitivity=12
cheers,
Pyros
p.s Modifying these Parameters by reaching the game options screen (as Don suggested) is the best course of action.

Thanks for the advice.
One thing though, under the Misc Tab, I do NOT have options for altering either graphics delay etc. My options list stops with the Mouse option. Any ideas?
I did modify the files as directed via notepad.
Thanks in advance. Love the game.

Since it was not mentioned here I would like to point out the DelayAdjust= option in the CamoGame.ini -file. I like to play whit this setting at -250 which removes the delay between the fireing of different weapons. I hope the option to change this setting will remain in the .ini -file for WinSPWW2 also.

What version is your game?? ( it's reported at the bottom of the screen when you start it up.) If you've upgraded with every patch available it should be 2.51. If not you need to upgrade. I seem to recall we added those two for the second patch

Hi Don,
Hum...that is odd. I am currently at version 2.51, but I don't have the menu options. I will try to reinstall the patch again and see if that helps. In fact, I have two patches...one I beleive patches to v2.5, and the other -- the 2.51 patch -- appears to be a gun pointing correction.
Thanks once more for your help,
Krotos

When you start the game and Game Options appear click on the MISC tab and tell me what version you see printed on the top right side. It should say 6th September 2005. If it doesn't, you didn't install the Ver 2 patch. All patches must be installed in order. V2 then V2.5 then the 2.51 EXE
