Hi again
Just tried the various mods to see what they look like, and I have a problem with Supersize HW mod : my rig usually playing SF at 60 fps with all options set to high drops to 7 fps with the mod ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
What's funny is that the 7 fps are constant whatever the detail level, putting them High or Low doesn't make any difference . Even with all set to Slow, with a screen view with nothing more than the star background it's that slow...
Where does this come from ? Is there some CPU bottleneck "created" by the mod - I thought it was just a graphics mod with big planets (that are much better than the stock smallish planets btw) ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Very odd.

Although, if you've got the right version of the mod, the planets are actually normal size:
It is your perspective that is tinier http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

As I recall, the first time I tried to make the jumbo system, I tried to make the planets bigger, and it choked on the huge map...

Try the supersize P&Nism mod. I'm sure that one works, at least for me.
I'll look into the supersized stock this afternoon.

Thks SJ
This was it ! The "Supersize HW" mod seems to be the one with big planets, choked perfs http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
The P&N HW is with tiny ships, normal perfs. But it has some other problems though :
- Ships are ... tiny, the game has fixed views so they're really small !
- When trying to use the Freighter has a player ship the "usual" view (from behind/slightly above) has a wrong angle and you don't see horizontally in front of the ship - it makes the game unplayable as you don't see what happens !

And BTW, what does change P&N-ism ?? It's not documented AFAIK..
Thks anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The views aren't fixed, but there is a limit to how close you can get, due to rounding.

This should fix it:
Go into Main_StartingPlayerShips.txt, near the bottom, and change the values to:
Viewing Distance Above Behind XY := 2
Viewing Distance Above Behind Z := 1

You will have to start a new game for the changes to take effect.
