I just tested the Demo on XP
just go to the .exe for the game right clic>properties>compatability>windows 98>apply>OK.

It runs just fine so anyone that is worried about that should test it on their system. If the demo runs the game should I'm guessing.

Great to hear¡¡ I´ll try the demo on my laptop soon, I´ve played it on my win98 old machine only, wich I keep around to play older games.

One question: I´ve notice that when I scroll the map with the arrow keys something happens: either the camera keeps moving out of control or the game just freezes, it only happens when scrolling with the arrow keys....have you experienced this issue or is it just my crappy video card?

I have found the camera to be very stable. I wish the camera in Shogun Total war was as stable as the camera in RA. BUT now that I think about it on RA I am moving my view mostly on the mini map. I did have the Gamne freeze one time out of about 20 plays in 98se though not sure what I was doing at the time.

Well, I just did try the demo on my XPlaptop under win98/ME compatibility, set the graphic options to high as the readme suggests, and it runs, a little better than it does on my old machine though.

However, it runs well as long as you don´t hit the arrow keys to navigate, if you start pressing those the game gets unstable, the only difference I`ve notice so far is that on my old machine the game used to got totally out of control with arrow kys, when on XP you can get thing back to normal if using the mouse only.

Even I`ve noticed that if you strat playing some minutes with mouse only, then after a while you can strat arrow scrolling without much trouble, but not all the time. It´s just I´m so used to key-scroll from other games.

I must say however that the keys "Insert, Home, Pg Up, PgDn, End" and "Dlete" keys are very useful and don´t seem to cause any problem so far.

I´m starting to think from the system requirements in the readme that this game has been windows friendly since the begining, and the issue I´m talking about could be a configuration issue only, I hoped it would vanish running with a better video card.

Are you having the same issue?....What configuration are you using?...I´m attaching my Dxdiag print just in case you have any comment.

Sorry I am not computer savy enough to make anything out on configurations. The computer I have run the game in 98se on is an off the rack HP 750mhz Intel, 191mb ram. the Graphics and sound cards are both integrated to the mother board so nothing fancy.

The one I ran it on XP is a scratch built I paid some one else to put togehter its a 1.09Ghz AMD with 512MB ram. AHUS Motherboard, sound and graphics cards.

Only thing maybe unusual on either of my computers is that in both cases I have several hard drives so there is lots of free space on both of my C: drives.

Any way I don't seem to have any problems running the game on either machine.
