The current Bolivian Political Situation

As you might be aware of, Bolivia's recently elected Socialist president ordered the Bolivian military to seize all the oil and natural gas production facilities in the country and nationalized them all; this has annoyed his neihgbors; in particular, Brazil, whose state oil company had invested quite heavily in Bolivia.

So I'm wondering if a Brazil vs Bolivia scenario or campaing would be worthwhile.

I like third-world campaigns. They have a lot more low-quality armor (which is more interesting to play with than first-world Abrams and Leopard 2 style "death ray" tanks with perfect accuracy and powerful guns). These campaigns also tend to have more infantry, and the battles are smaller and more interesting. I'd love to have a Bolivia vs. Brazil campaign. In real life it wouldn't be ridiculous if the two nations had a few skirmishes. Wars between nations in Latin America are more common than they are in all of the rest of the world except Africa, which allows you to create a realistic and plausible scenario.

What about the current Argentina vs Uruguay situation? There´s massive demonstrations in Argentina against a large timber mill (Don´t know the correct english term for sellutehdas) that is being built just near the border river in Uruguay. Argentinian goverment has contacted the World Bank and finnish government to halt construction, but everybody says that the real quarrel is between Argentina and Uruguay and their domestic policies going foreign.

Brazil intervention teams (say paras or jungle units) vs. Bolivian National Guard or whatever their security forces are called? By the way, Mark, do you have a more precise idea about what would be to be played here? Like, battle or campaign? Or which side should be human-played?

Apart from that, I don't really think that there would be any kind of intervention for now, as the Bolivian military was apparently more concerned by showing its muscle to both foreign investors and the people. Now an economic collapse of Bolivia sounds more credible than said military intervention, but is that to stop us from speculating? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Brasil and Bolivia have patched up their differences. But now several large cities in Brasil are roiled by very powerful prison based gangs, who have adopted the language and methods of leftist guerrillas. There would seem to be a scenario or two in that.

Another scenario would be a campaign portraing an "old style" mercenary company hired to defend an oil plant from the Bolivian forces, and later joining forces with the Brasilian spec-ops.
