View Full Version : Congrats and a question

Gentlemen,

congratulations for getting this baby done! Great stuff!

I however have a question:

I realize that, unlike in Win-SPMBT, it is no more possible to select between human and computer player in the long and normal campaign mode. Is there any chance to get this feature back in ?

Or is there a hidden switch, that I may have missed, to reactivate this feature ?

cheers

Hi,

Could you please be more precise on your question?

In a generated (or long campaign) the PLAYER #1 is the Human and the PLAYERS #2, #3 and #4 are under AI control.

At what point of the campaign do wish "to select between human and computer player"?

Hi Helge,

I'm not sure what you mean either as I see no difference between the two games when selecting a campaign?

Narwan

Edit: Helge, I see what you mean now.

Simple,

in all versions of SPWW2 and SPMBT you are able to select Player#1 as human or computer controlled, just as you like. As far as I have seen this flexibility for the player is now gone in both campaign modes, but is still present in battle mode.

The attached screen only shows up in battle but not in campaign mode. I hope that makes clear what Iīm talking about.

Sorry for asking but at which point you select whether the Player #1 is controlled by AI or by Human?

Perhaps you are referring to the option during loading a campaign savegame (to change the control of Player #1 from human to AI).

In such a case if you wish to set the control of Player #1 to AI, you may do it from the Headquarter menu during your normal turn.

Simply click the HQ menu and then change the control of all units from human to AI.

No need to be sorry, I wasnīt specific enough. You switch between AI or human when loading from a save, after the deployment is done before the next battle starts.

Yes, thanks I know Pyros.

However, this way, by example, it isnīt possible to let the battle unfold via AI vs AI without human interaction for say 10 turns and then take over control from the AI again. In older versions you are able to do that, as you can in Win-MBT, thatīs why I asked.

So if Andy has some time, it would be nice to have this feature back in the next patch.

Helge,

Still you can do what you wish.

If you do as I described in the previous post you will observe the battle in a quick mode, THEN at any turn you wish to resume control, you simply have to press "ENTER".

But, you are right, it much more simple to set the PLAYER #1 as AI in the loading screen. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well done to Don & Andy and the Shrapnel team!

I just got the download and my order is in. Been waiting years (you know how many!) for this.

A big "Hello" to Helge, CB, Nick and the whole crew.

Best wishes,
Boomer

Pyros,

unfortunately this is not the case, unless I am doing something wrong here. If you switch your units to computer control via the headquarter menu, you are prompted for your orders in every next order phase and the game stops until I press the continue button, which I would love to avoid. With the old system you donīt get asked for orders or pressing buttons unless you hit "ENTER".

@Boomer: A big "Hello" also to you. Nice to meet all the "old" guys again. Seems like we are all more or less addicted to this game since the very first days back in the 90s, LOL!

Helge,

You are right,

if you set animations to off and all display settings to zero, the game will run very quickly,

BUT you will still need to press the "end turn" in order to proceed to the next turn...

Sorry, I can't think of anything else.

[actually there is something that you can do (by using the scenario editor), but it won't be compatible with the campaign format].

Pyros,

just ask Andy if he is willing to implement the necessary code from Win-MBT (if it isnīt already there and only needs activation) and everything should be back and running fine as it was before.

Otherwise great game and great job! We have been waiting a long time for this baby.
