Did you install the game in 98 and then upgrade? Try reinstalling. I started with 98 and when I upgraded over a year ago I had to reinstall a lot of progarms to get them to work.

sorry it took me so long to respond but i am working the graveyard shift @ the Gallup,NM Port of Entry.I did have the game installed on the 98 and i reinstalled it when I upgraded to the XP version.Thats when Istarted having Problems. In fact i have uninstalled & reinstalled several times including today after rebooting my XP setup Trying before I did anything else.I even tried installing the new win spww2 but it did the same thing. It will get me to the start screen but when I press the start button to play the scenario nothing happens and I have to use the task manager to exit.It is very frustrating as I really enjoyed playing these games.

I have the same problem except that I can't even escape using Task Manager. I run XP and have always run XP on this machine.

Have you checked what version of Direct X you have ?
Type dxdiag into the Start\Run line and take a look at how your system is working

I just checked the Direct X. It is version 9.0 and the computer says all is fine.

Well if you are having problems in both games, it is likely not the audio file format, as we released WW2 with WAV sound files, as some sound card drivers, codecs, and cards cannot handle multiple simultaneous MP3 sound streams.
Have you turned all sound off? (including the mouse click found in the main gane options launcher misc tab). If this lets you play, you have some problem with your sound card or a codec, or the card itself. And since you have upgraded to XP, I would tend to suspect the sound card drivers, since the fact you can get into the main screens seems to clear both DirectX and your video card drivers. But I would still ensure the video card drivers are the latest XP compatible ones, as well as the drivers for your sound card.
Does your system meet the specs for RAM and video card RAM?.

well,it has been awhile since I first posted my problem but Iseem to have found a solution.I once again downloaded both winSPMBT & win SPWW2 And installed them and now they are working. All I did was turn off the mouse click interface & switch from full screen to windowed mode.It had always played in full screen mode when I had the Windows 98 OS but will not on the XP OS.Ilose a little map area but at least now I can play both of these excellent games now. I appreciate everyones input & help.It has led me to learn more about my computer since iam a relative novice on these things.
